Pretty much lost my pizza to the flies. I sat at the bar because I was solo and wanted to be on my tablet and relax. Once my pizza came, I probably stayed for about an hour maybe more after and it stayed sitting on the bar the entire time, flies buzz around it.
I waited a long time to ask for a second drink and for a box. Another server who was chatting extensively (even sat one time) with his tables, giving great service and talking. But he walked by me when I tried to grab his attention after I heard him off or his table a pizza box.
And even if he didn't hear me, you see my pizza out here sitting out. I'm sitting right next to his table section. He's passing by me in order to go into the kitchen every single time. But I heard in the back that he was more concerned that his buddies invited him out for golf and he couldn't get rid of his table.
When the bartender came over I did ask for a box and ordered another drink. He brought the drink, but my pizza set out the entire time and the worst part is flies began getting attracted to it.
It can be hard being a solo diner but it's even worse when you feel like you are inconveniencing the entire staff even when it's not very busy. And I didn't even make extra requests (like a small plate to put a piece of pizza on because they didn't offer me one or check on how it was. Delicious btw!) There was plenty of seating space available in the restaunt, the bar was by no means full.
I enjoyed the pizza. I got the hot pizza which had just the right amount of spicy and I really like the nice crispy crust. I really enjoyed the cocktail I got, the In Bloom. I had a Pinot grigio after.
That's why it was disappointing. It's hard for me to dine solo as I'm sure many people have the same feelings. None of the staff needed to stand around waiting on me, I don't really like to have a bunch of conversation for them to chat me up for better tips. All I need is simple service, the...
Read moreAs I approached Oak 36SAV, the vibrant energy of the restaurant was apparent from the very first glance. Stepping in from the parking lot, I was immediately transported from the shopping center into a contemporary, casual ambiance that was both inviting and refreshing. At the entrance, a cheerful male host greeted me with a warm smile and quickly led me to my table. Despite arriving a bit early for my reservation, the staff was more than accommodating, offering me a space to work and even seating me around a plug for my device.
The atmosphere was alive with the sound of light music and the hum of happy diners enjoying themselves in small groups. As I perused the menu, Haillie arrived with impeccable timing, ready to guide me through the culinary offerings. Her warm demeanor and genuine smile put me at ease and she was quick to answer any questions I had. I decided to try the SPN Spanish Red Blend, a bright and fruity wine with subtle hints of pepper and green tea. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not too dry, and went down like a treat. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second glass!
For my main dish, I was very intrigued by Haillie's recommendation of the Chicken Fried Chicken, but ultimately decided on the Shrimp Scampi Radiatori for something a little on the lighter side. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first as I've had lackluster scampi dishes in the past, but this dish was delightful. The local shrimp was cooked to perfection, with a succulent texture and savory flavor. The garlic, lemon, and herb butter added a light depth of flavor that made each bite a delicious.
Overall, Oak 36SAV exceeded my expectations in several ways. The ambiance was perfect, Haillie's service was outstanding, and the food was delightful. I recommend giving this...
Read moreWhen they first opened we (husband and I) were so excited. The menu was great and service was great every time. As time has gone on the menu changes consistently and the service has suffered. Just when we find a new favorite after every change it gets removed. We were once told by a server it changes because the staff get tired of the same things. The service has been hit and miss at best. Some are great and some are not. I have taken so many new people there for business/personal lunches et. Unfortunently the last few times they have said they would not go back. The last time was last week when we went for a work lunch. The new spring menu was apparently put out. We could not find one thing that sounded appealing on it, which I bragged about a salad wrap they had which was also removed. The business associate saw the menu online and was excited and then disappointed once saw the real new menu. The staff sat us and server quickly disappeared once we said it would take a minute to review the new menu because it was a surprise. We were trying to be nice because nothing looked appealing and we didnt want to be rude, we just asked for time to review it. She was not happy and did not come back at all seemingly annoyed at our comment for more time to review due to another new menu. I would have thought she would have recommend or explained the new menu, something. And no before you ask there was only 1 other table sat in the whole place with several servers around. after about 15 minutes of waiting for her return (which she never did) my lunch guest wanted to leave. She felt uncomfortable and a little mad at how the service was being handled. I am hoping they turn this around because I loved going there for brunch, lunch, and dinner but i wont be back...
