Quality: These things are sugarbombs! I am not sure what I was expecting, but this is not it. We tried a selection of 4 cupcakes: Margarita, Banana Pudding, Bourbon, and Chocolate Cola. All of the frostings were really, really heavy, and so sweet, that I could not taste any flavor, other than sugar. I did like the little lime jelly on the Margarita cupcake, as well as the crunchy sugar crystals. The cupcake itself was ok and moist, but not something special. I also liked the cupcake part on the bourbon, and I could taste the bourbon in that, though it was a bit too moist in my opinion, but the frosting was the same super sugary really heavy frosting, and all I tasted was sugar. The Chocolate Cola was very chocolaty, but I could not taste any cola flavor in either the frosting or the cupcake. The frosting was the same, very sweet and all sugar, though it did taste chocolaty, with chocolate sprinkles. The cupcake itself was somewhat dry on this one, crumbly, and seemed heavy on the cocoa powder. The Banana Pudding cupcake was the same with the frosting, sugary and no flavor. The cupcake itself was moist and ok, and by itself had some banana flavor. My biggest complaint in all cases was the frosting, which was like sugar cement to me. I don't mind a lot of frosting, but it was heavy, gooey, grainy from sugar, super super sweet, and lacking in signature flavor. The frosting really needs to be much lighter, creamier in texture, and I should really get a good hit of the signature flavor from it, and much much less sugar. Appeal: The cupcakes had a very appealing appearance, and looked to be assembled with care, the frosting and decorations were applied in a very appealing and uniform manner. But the excellent appearance belied the horribly excessive use of sugar, and lack of actual signature flavor. Service: Service was excellent and friendly. I really wish these cupcakes met the expectations that the store, the staff, and the appearance presented, but...
Read moreI love their cupcakes - they are yummy. But, that staff will be the death of their business. In the beginning, when they first opened the staff was friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Now, when you go inside of their business - especially right before they close, they act like they don't want you there. I understand what it's like to work a job and become tired and ready to go home, but business is business and you should be on your best behavior at all times. You never know who you may encounter or rub the wrong way that may affect your business in the long run. This negative attitude, I have encountered on several visits. I love the cupcakes, but it makes me have second thoughts on staying a patron of and supporting this business. The girls in there can be quite cold and unfriendly. It was nothing like this in the beginning. I don't know if it's new management or what the problem is. The Cupcake Emporium has been here long before Gigi's, and while I love Gigi' cupcakes, the customers service at the Cupcake Emporium is much friendlier. Those girls in there need a good lesson on customer service. I just know that i may never come back again. It's not worth driving across town for a cupcake to encounter sub-par service or employee's who give you the impression that they have much better things to do than wait on you and don't want to...
Read moreWorst customer service I’ve ever encountered. Left work to drive there to order a cake and cupcakes in person for my son’s upcoming birthday and I was given a phone number to “text” my order to. They simply would not let me place an order and pay in advance in person. How is a text message going to understand the details of my order? This was an order a week and a half in advance as well. Then when I asked to speak to a manager I was told they were way too busy for my order. I called corporate to see if this is normal to “text orders” and corporate is also too busy to return my call.
In response to the owner. I did ask to speak to a manager but she made no attempt to show me anything but say check out pictures on line and text them to this number. She lied to you. I said “so driving here to place to order an pay has been a waste of my time.” After I called twice I did receive a call back from corporate who said that is not company policy to text but each franchise is different and a week and a half is sufficient time for an order. You did “text” me after 8pm and offered to have me pick up my order beginning of April. I declined, celebrating my sons birthday late for your convienence is a terrible idea. After all I went immediately to Whole Foods and they happily placed my order. Looking forward to picking it...
