We had always wanted to do a full day tour the historic homes, squares, and river front in Savannah GA and now we can check it off the bucket list! Met some wonderful people by walking from square to square that were spaced every two blocks running from east to west and north to south for about 16 blocks! We resisted the tempting Old Town Trolley Tours and the Savannah River Queen Cruises and simply enjoyed taking our time by walking and sitting down in just about every square for rest. We did buy a very informative 'Essential Guide to Historic Savannah' pamphlet with color pics and detailed description of all the houses and monuments around each square. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn about the statue of General Oglethorpe in the Chippewa Square plus the history that goes with it especially since we live about five miles from the town of Fort Oglethorpe named after James Edward Oglethorpe.
