Normally, I love to visit this restaurant, but after today, if they don't correct themselves, I'll never come back. I sat around for almost 20 minutes waiting for the host to show up to come seat us, and while waiting, counted 5 staff members not wearing a mask properly while they handled people's food. One employee with an American flag mask had his mask completely on his chin, not covering his mouth or nose, while the other 4 just weren't covering their noses. Once I was finally seated, 20 now minutes passed before the waitress finally showed up to get my family's drink orders, and we went ahead and ordered our food too since we thought if we didn't, it would be another while before we could. 20 minutes later, drinks came out, my family all got diet cokes but were given unsweet tea, and my coffee came without cream or sugar to put in it. I asked for cream and sugar from another waiter since my waitress disappeared for 5 minutes, and 5 minutes later only got cream, so I asked for sugar that I never got. Almost 25 minutes later we finally asked where the food was, only getting 8 chicken fingers with spuds, and me getting a club sandwich, nothing which should've taken long. The waiter said he'd go check and we didn't hear back from him. Then another waiter informed us that our waitress had left and he just put our order in so they'd be getting to it soon for us. 20 minutes later the food FINALLY came out, but it was all cold, like it had just been sitting around. My family asked for a bottle of ketchup, and after waiting 10 minutes for it, finally went and asked someone leaving the kitchen who fetched us some. While they did that, they saw our waiter tucked away in a corner with other employees laughing and talking away. We ate our cold and bland food, and got the bill. We gave the waiter the card and he went off, past the computer to pay, and to his friends back to continue talking for another 5 minutes before we finally saw him pay with the card and bring back the receipt and card. We paid $40 for an absolute waste of our time and money. From horrible customer service, lack of priority, poor etiquette, lack of following CDC guidelines by employees, lack of mask mandate, and cold bland food, this restaurant has gone downhill and really needs to fix this. I'm half tempted to call the health department and have them shut you down because of the fact that you're not following CDC guidelines on Covid prevention. It's one thing for customers to be stupid and wear a mask wrong, but if food service employees aren't doing it, it begins to make you wonder what else they're neglecting to do? Do they wash their hands when they leave the bathroom? How clean is the kitchen? Do they prevent cross contamination? Do they swap gloves between tasks? Are the dishes and silverware even properly cleaned? If I wanted to worry about these problems, I'd go to McDonald's. Spanky's had been a huge thing here in Savannah, and I've always been a fan and recommended them, but after today, I'm not doing that anymore. I'm not gonna risk anyone getting sick during this pandemic because you can't enforce customers to wear masks until seated at a table, and for your employees to follow...
Read moreI have visited Spanky’s restaurant on Mall Blvd several times with friends and family members and ordered this same item, Fried Shrimp Alfredo. I have never had this issue. The waitress brought the Fried Shrimp Alfredo covered with a shredded cheese that I didn’t like the taste of. I politely told her that I did not like the cheese and can she please replace the shrimp without the cheese. The manager, Bailey, came out the kitchen angry. He did not introduce himself or anything. He asked why I didn’t I like the dish. I politely advised him that I did not like the cheese as it has a hard taste and can I get the fried shrimp without the shredded cheese. Bailey advised that this is how it is always made. I advised him that there must be a different cook as I have never had the shredded cheese like this on the fried shrimp. He took my plate in the back and it took about 15 minutes and the waitress brought the dish back out with the fried shrimp peeled and no skin. I asked for the manager. Bailey came out and I asked if I could get a fresh dish. I advised that I am paying for my dish and I do not want the cheese. He says it comes like that. I advised that yes it comes in the Alfredo but not topped on the shrimp. The taste of the cheese is too prevalent like that for me and please can he remake the dish. He then argues back and forth with me. He makes it like I should not have my dish without the cheese. He was so rude and re made the next dish but look at the Alfredo in the second dish. It is so runny and honestly I was afraid to eat anything after his behavior. I then asked just to take off the dish and asked for the owner's name. He did not want to give me his name and there was a 2nd manager on duty but he/she would not come out and assist me. Customer Service from a General manager should not be as rude as Bailey. He did not care and I am a paying customer who deserves to have my meal with or without the cheese if I choose. I have placed a picture of Bailey for all to see and BEWARE: If you do not like the way he makes your dish he will be the DEVIL's himself. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I work for a school and I buy gift certificates for the Principal and teachers but never again! I will patronage Carey...
Read moreWas not worth the trip. I was surprised by how many people were there. I guess normally they must be pretty good, but this was possibly the worst overall service I've had in Savannah.
Was told I'd have to wait 15-20 minutes for someone to seat me at an outside table (only one was occupied) and the same hostess ended up seating me. I asked for a water and beer menu. She stared at me when I said beer before finally acknowledging it. The waitress came out within 5 minutes of me being seated and when I asked for a beer she gave me the same reaction then looked offended. It was easily 10 minutes before I got my beer and got another offended reaction when I said I need a little longer on the food. The beer was either not tapped properly or the wrong beer because it shouldn't have tasted like apple juice.
Between ordering food and getting it was around a half hour. Best part of that was I got the entree before the appetizer because "someone else took your fried pickles so those will be right out"...I got a chuckle with that comment. I asked for a 2nd beer, got another offended look.
When the beer came out I asked for the check. Got another offended look.
I thanked her for everything paid my bill and tip and left without finishing the app or beer.
The entree was decent. The fried pickles were surprisingly good. The atmosphere inside seemed fun.
A regular laughed when he realized the waitress I'd gotten then corrected himself and said she does hustle and keeps moving. She apparently had a 20 top among other tables. So she was probably just overwhelmed.
But that was the problem. At no point did anyone ask how I was doing, explain why everything was taking so long or ask if any refills were wanted. That poor woman was probably at her breaking point and at no point were any of the issues acknowledged.
The only reason I am leaving 2 stars is because the menu and food were enough to make me wonder what a slow day would be like and they brought water out for my dog before...
