OK I’ve got to be upfront about Eddie V’s – it’s a Seafood Lovers Paradise and a Foodies’ superb Haven. It isn’t cheap, but you more than get what you pay for, then some, and then some more. It made for a super enjoyable date night for my wife and I. Albeit I can almost guarantee that most folks who visit Eddie’s and can regularly afford this as I noticed around me, are not so much into the food but the atmosphere, the opulence and maybe, just maybe the excellent food, but more into the company they are with, the comfortable surroundings, and I must say, themselves! Although my wife and I were into most of that, the food with the atmosphere is what really makes Eddie’s extraordinary! As they advertise, they most definitely are a stylish and sophisticated fine dining experience. Their expansive, multi-room, sheik, classy and chic atmosphere lends to the intoxicating background with subtle live music wafting through the air (not too loud, just right) for a perfect evening of conversation, harmony, cuisine, pleasing audible resonance and leisure. The dusk was exulted by an incredible offering of exceptional and brilliantly prepared cookery. We started the evening with my fave Grey Goose Extra Dry Martini with 2 pimento olives and 2 cocktail onions, perfectly prepared, and my better half’s Grey Goose Cosmopolitan - exceptional. Magnificent renditions and Kudos to the ‘Tender! At the discretion of the Chef, this evening’s amuse Bouche of Watermelon Gazpacho, we was totally unprepared for – it was extraordinary in its subtlety and finesse, was an incredibly delish hors d'œuvre. For starters our selections of the Maine Lobster Bisque, smooth to the palate, savory and full of flavor, with an extraordinary Crème Fraîche (yes, with the perfect amount of Cogñac added), and their Classic Caesar Salad with a just perfect amount of dressing was seasoned without being overwhelming was fantastic. Our Entrées were exceptional. My selection of the “Chef's Seasonal Fish” a Mediterranean Branzino (Sea Bass) basically and caringly Broiled, I requested skin on, and simply seasoned with olive oil, lemon and sea salt and served with Asparagus was incredible – it was tender, moist and exuding with natural flavor, enhanced only with its basic preparation. This filet was excellently prepared and meticulously presented – adding to the sumptuous arrangement. My wife decided on a wonderfully prepared tender and awesome Norwegian Salmon with a perfectly rendered and delicious Kentucky Rye Whiskey and just the right measure of mustard Glaze served over tender and fresh Baby Carrots and gently Sautéed Spinach. The Au Gratin Potatoes we ordered for a side were stupendous. We wrapped up our dinner outing with my Wife’s choice an excellent rendition of Bananas Foster Flambé Butter Cake and I a delish Fresh Seasonal Berries with Cream. We topped everything off with Branson VSOP Brandy and Fonseca Bin 27. Magnifique! If you’re in the mood for romantic, tranquil, company and conversation – not to mention some of best culinary experiences in the Valley, this is the place for you… and us....
Read moreIf you are looking for the best steak in town this may very well be it. I've been to Eddie V's 4 or 5 times now, waiting to write this review to ensure it remained consistent. I've been to many of the competing steak houses at this price point and while good, they are A tier while Eddie V's is S tier.
The ambience is classic steakhouse, in just the right way. It is fancy without feeling stuffy, classic without feeling dated, urban and modern without being loud and in your face, and fine dining with a commensurate pricetag, but one that feels fair when the bill comes for what you've experienced and one you will happily pay. There are white table cloths with waiters in traditional uniform, a lounge with a piano and sometimes a singer and band. Plenty of glass showing off a wine collection that is long enough to find new things to try, varied enough to have multiple accessible price points, but not so long that you get lost in choice and ultimately need a lifeline to find your way out.
I have not had any bad plates at Eddie V's. I keep swearing I'm going to try the seafood that is it's namesake and cannot stop myself from ordering the ribeye every time. Typically I do it with a Caesar salad though I've also had the calamari and the crab cake to start and I especially recommend the Kung pao calamari. Very moreish and different from any other preparation style I've had. People I've gone with have also had the burrata salad and the lobster bisque and I've heard good things about them as well. All the sides are nice, but do yourself a favor and order the mac and cheese. I've had lobster mac and king crab mac, and even other truffle mac, none of it compares. This mac and cheese is so good I order an extra order to go just to be able to have it with lunch the next few days. Finally for dessert I've had a few things, including the bananas foster butter cake and creme brule I always order creme brule from any menu that has it, but I think I like the bananas foster butter cake even more.
I definitely recommend this for your next...
Read moreWow, So disappointing. Actually the worst dining experience I’ve had!! The food was simply Awful. I decided to try this place lastnight with my Mother and my wife. I ordered the steak tartar for my appetizer. Firstly Steak tartar should be finely diced and lightly seasoned allowing for the natural flavors to shine. The meat was cut in irregular size large chunks, it was slimy , fatty and tasted disgusting. My wife had the tuna tartar which was better yet very mediocre. My mother had the crab cake which was decent. For my main I ordered the Seabass. It was so bad I couldn’t finish it, despite it being very small. Yes it was steamed- but it was so watery and flavorless. In fact all I could taste was ginger as they had loaded the bowl with an ungodly amount of raw ginger. The fish sat on top of a bed of watery flavorless spinach. This had to have been one of the most poorly conceived and executed dishes ever. My wife ordered the bone in ribeye. It looked great upon arrival until we cut into it and discovered it had not been left to rest properly. It bled all over the plate and looked disgusting. A good Chef would ensure sufficient resting before the customer received the dish. Aside from this the taste was absolutely vile. Really really bad flavor. It had not been seasoned at all. My wife simply couldn’t eat it and after I tasted it I could see why. My Mother had the fillet it also had zero seasoning and was badly butchered with some silver skin still on there. The Brussels sprouts again were awful, badly prepared and cooked. Flavor again lacking. The cheddar potatoes were so dry and powdery we also didn’t eat that. Truffle Mac and cheese was tasty and we enjoyed that. We decided to skip dessert as we had little hope it would shine. Eddie vs, you were such a disappointment I find it hard to believe you are in business serving up such poor quality meals. Truly the most disappointing meal...
