The cashier...server...employee...I believe his name was Blake....He was so helpful and very kind to us. He had no way of knowing why we were having a Special Getaway together. I had recently been diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer. We ( our whole family, 5 grown children and two, 5 yr. Old Grandsons ( not twins, different daughters are the moms) and adult Grand daughter....Had all gone thru a very difficult Chemo Therapy Treatment week. It really does affect the whole Loving Supportive Family when going thru all of this. So my Wonderful husband had planned this Special Getaway ( just the two of us) to Seaside Beach.A very muchly needed Relaxing fun time together. My supportive daughters had gone to Wigland to get new wigs I needed since my hair falling out from Chemo. They also bought green wigs to support me Even my Loving husband put the wig on for a Supportive pic and my Amazing Son- in - law also took a pic ! What a couple of Awesome guys I have in my life ! So when I was on the beach..I had my husband video tape me pulling off my green wig...TO SHOW, NO FEAR OF THE PUBLIC, SINCE LOSING MY HAIR TO CHEMO !! IT WAS VERY FREEING FOR ME !! SO....YOU SEE...YOU NEVER KNOW WHO'S DAY YOU COULD BE MAKING...BY JUST A SMILE AND KINDNESS.... THE CASHIER/ WAITER BLAKE( I THINK) HE PROBABLY HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH HIS KINDNESS WAS MEANING TO MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF THAT MORNING !!! MADE OUR DAY !! THANK YOU BLAKE !!! And the food was very good. They had a big selection of pastry items available . Everything was Delicious.!! I ordered a breakfast Panini sandwich....with avocado, bacon , and turkey and cheddar cheese. My husband ordered HUEVOS RANCHEROS, that came with country fried potatoes with bell peppers and onions. My husband said it was very good. I also couldn't resist ordering 2 homemade blueberry muffins. Saved one for next day on our road trip. They were very moist. A blueberry scone also. That one was alittle too hard for me, I should have known...scones aren't usually moist. But our overall experience was very good at the Ocean Bakery Cafe, inside the Best Western Hotel. They even had wine....check out the pic.....MY husband and I recommend the Ocean Bakery Cafe.... during your stay. Very responsibly priced also. Nice atmosphere also !!...
Read moreI was really looking forward to lunch at Ocean Bakery Cafe after reading some of the great reviews. And the food WAS fantastic—really phenomenal burgers and some of the best thick-cut fries I've ever had in my life. However, the service was some of the most appalling I've ever experienced. Despite being the only party in the place the whole time we were there, our orders came EXTREMELY slowly. Once they were there, about half of them were completely wrong (wrong cheeses and toppings on all the burgers we ordered but one). When we mentioned this, we were flat out told in a very indifferent way that the chef refused to fix any of our orders, and we were not offered any other kind of fix for that (no refunds, no free dessert, etc). At least one person in our party completely never got the side dish they ordered. As the icing on the cake, my six year old had a fruit cup with her meal and discovered that several pieces of fruit in it were molding, which seems like a health risk as well as being gross! We enjoyed the yummy food and lovely, open space of this Cafe, but would never, ever recommend it based on our...
Read moreWe came by for a late breakfast/early lunch on a holiday weekend Sunday, expecting every place to eat would be very busy. The restaurant was pleasantly relaxing and not crowded. There are tables for every conceivable size party, with hotel restrooms immediately nearby. The entrance is through the main hotel lobby of the Best Western. The menu is mostly burgers, pizzas and sandwiches. They also have a breakfast buffet from 7 am - 10 am, but breakfast sandwiches are available all day. Baked goods and pastries, along with espresso and coffee drinks, are also available all day. The Dip roast beef panini was very fresh, and the fries were crispy and seasoned. Debbie took our order and kept an eye on our table; she was fun and very personable. We stayed for quite a while visiting, and the restaurant was quiet and emptied out after lunch, so we basically had the place to ourselves. I really think this is a hidden gem just off the Prom for a good, basic meal at a great value in a nicely appointed setting. If I was a local, I could easily see being a regular customer here. Walkable from anywhere in...
