Several people recommended b-side to me but I wish I hadn't tried it! I went with a friend last week and when we went up to place our order, the white blond waitress looked right at us but ignored us for several minutes to keep having a personal conversation with a coworker.
After several minutes my friend finally spoke up to get her attention. She had a bad attitude and stomped off after weordered we heard her mutter loud enough to hear that she was 'so sick of n**' while she was walking back. It Was so unexpected we werent even sure we heard right.
She's definitely sick of something about us thuogh, because she obviously didn't want to take our order and then refused to give us our food when it was ready.
When our orders were ready i asked the waitress what she said before. Instead of replying she took our food back behind the counter and someone else brought it to us. When I asked them what was going on they said we were now trespassing (as customers who had tipped 20%!!!) and needed to leave.
I wonder what could be causing this huge difference in treatment??? You can look at the names on the other one star reviews yourself and see the obvious pattern for who gets bad service. I hate to say it but the food was good, wasn't worth the abuse though.
EDIT: The owners (two white guys who seem nice tbh) replied to say they are '100% certain' discrimination doesn't happen at their business when they're not there.
If you were serious about wanting to solve the problem, you'd take steps to make sure you will know if it happens again. Put up a camera with sound and check it so you know what's really going on.
Look, you've been getting written complaints about rudeness, denial of service, and discrimination for months. How long are you going to ignore this problem just because the majority of your customers are white and not effected?
I liked the food, I wanted to be a regular customer, but instead your staff made us feel like we didn't have the right to eat there and they really tried to ignore us until we'd go away.
What is it going to take for you to believe customers and change your businesses culture? Audio? A viral...

Not only are the staff friendly, helpful, and efficient, but the customers are likewise: neighborly, nice, chatty, and happy to be there too.
Strong hot coffee, the drip is more espresso-like and it’s a satisfying pick-me-up, while the cold brew packs a rich flavor punch too (highly recommend both beverages with cream & sugar); Quality can be expected because both beverages come from the adjoining coffee bar.
The food is equally good; Our brunch consisted of: the Rice Bowl and the Chickpea Salad, both fresh, delicious, and satisfying … Both dishes were well crafted & artfully presented.
Next time we will probably order ahead and pick-up; Although we scored one of the 3 patio tables this morning, we might not be as lucky next time. The food is well worth the effort.
Food and coffee bar are conveniently located next door to Thomas Market, a neighborhood grocery store that is more than that. But street parking is tight (typical of Capitol Hill) and so walking there is definitely a less complicated way to go - or maybe rent a...

I thought it said dine in is available but it is not. It's not a huge deal but we don't live on the hill anymore and we drove 20 minutes to check it out. We ate in the car because you're not being fair to the food if you let it sit in the car for 20 minutes before consuming it. That's just me.
Ordering was weird. There's a door for bside but you don't go there. You go around the corner to Analog coffee (then realize there are two different doors but they are actually sharing the same space), order, then go back outside to the bside door and wait for your order.
Some of that might bother some people but whatever, I'm not much of a whiner. Bravo b~side 👏🏼 5 🌟 I look forward to going back and trying some more...
