If you know me then you know I don’t like to put others down. It’s just if you’re not near a cafe ladro then you’re simply missing out. I had my first breakfast here after a long night of getting sauced and tossed around town, and it was so good I had to embark on a controlled experiment. For four weeks I woke up at the same time on Friday morning, maintained the same eating and water consumption throughout the day, and would go to the cafe once I awoke on Saturday. I tried my meal the Saturday after a boozey night, herbal-only night, both boozey and herbal night, and a sober night. Each time the bacon and beechers cheese scone was causing me to stop and reflect on all of the amazing things in my life (#1 being this gd incredible scone, sorry mum), the iced caramel macchiato both quenching my thirst and inspiring me to be sweet and kind the rest of the day, while the raspberry scone just tickled my fancy each time. Experiment concluded this place is the bees kneez, cats pajamas, and rocks your socks (in a fun way, very non-violent)!
To be fair, the stack of lids is too tall and the artwork is of a particular taste, so I’ve outlined precautions to take. For the lids, like the 20th round in a game of jenga the stack is primed timber over, use one hand to gently cusp the second from top lid and hold the remaining upright while grabbing the top lid only. For the art, call ahead and ask what the vibe is, if you have traumas related to clowns, deer (or four legged-woodland creatures), or suspicious looking deer who may’ve been recruited to join Pennywise’s clown gang then you may need to coordinate with supportive friends before becoming a patron of this...
Read moreI have been coming here for coffee twice a week for the past 5 years. After seeing a few of the reviews on here, I want to step in to say that the service I have gotten here has been consistently great. Not buddy-buddy "fake smile and make you feel special" corporate congeniality; actual service by real people who live in our increasingly financially difficult neighborhood. The drinks are always made well and to order. The service is fast - faster than the big green monster down the street (you know who I mean) and I have discovered more impressive art from local artists on the walls than I'm many local designated galleries. I'd say if you aren't feeling special because your baristas were just making your drink and getting you on with your day (hopefully to more important matters) then that may be a problem to be addressed in your mirror at home. I could go to any one of the 5 closest places for coffee in my neighborhood. I go here. If you wish to be fawned over by corporate automatons, go to Nordstrom. If you want great coffee from a hardworking staff who are fighting to make a future for themselves, I suggest coming here. Buy some art worth hanging. Make better use of your time. Get in, get out and enjoy excellent coffee! Also, tip better. These are tougher times than pun your side of the counter that...

That said, enter Caffe Ladro.
This place is the simple format, coffee place, with great tasting coffee, but one has to admire the simplicity of this location. They have seating for maybe 24 people inside, 4 booths, 2 window booths (great places to be above the crowd, literally), but this place is the perfect people watching location, because of the deck chairs outside. Sure it's freezing out there right now; but give it a few months, and you will find that this is remarkably comfy to just sit, lean back, sip, and relax.
How is the coffee? It's not the strongest, harshest brew, instead, it's just darn tasty; I got a Tall Soy No-Whip Mocha.
Look... It's cold outside right now, but this place is inviting, warm and just feels good. If you are in this area, sure there is a Starbucks down the street, but this places it he local coffee place that just makes you glad you...
