I normally go to the location in Bellevue which I've always found to be wonderful and taste like the food my family makes at home but Bellevue is far to drive for dinner and it was late so I thought it wouldn't hurt to try this location. know this location in Cap Hill used to be something else and was changed so I have hesitate to eat here because as a middle eastern person I've found very few authentic middle eastern restaurants in the area from my region Garlic Crush is really my only option (there is a big difference in ME food regionally and southern foods have more of an Indian/African influence) and this location is awful.
I normally order the beef and lamb shawerma with extra meat, sauce on the side, a large garlic paste and baklava. I should have known this place would be bad when they did not have the garlic paste in the menu. The woman at the counter did not know what baklava is and assumed that the style they had was all that exists, I tried explaining to her that I wanted the other kind which they have at the other location but she kept telling me this is baklava, I had to explain there are probably 50 different types of baklava (I get that you are not ME but please be less ignorant when selling our food!).
When I got my food they did not put the sauce on the side so it was smothered in tahini sauce and I've never seen so much fat in shawerma anywhere ever and the portion was smaller than the other location! At least a quarter of the meat they gave me was pieces of fat that did not look cooked, shawerma is usually made of thinly sliced lean steak, we use fat in kabobs but not shawerma. I'm not sure if this location is owned by the same Lebanese people who own the one in Bellevue, it does not seem like it. The food was awful, the rice was not fully cooked and the service...
Read moreMediocre Mediterranean food and untrained staff! This place can keep changing its name to get better reviews, but it will not improve a dime unless it trains its staff to be a little classy. The Asian guy at front desk was extremely rude and a liar! I placed an order through GrubHub for pick-up. Obviously you are not supposed to pay tip for pickup orders, and he was likely offended by this, and lied to me that they are only accepting "delivery" orders. I confirmed that GrubHub says my order is ready, yet he asked me to go outside in rain and wait, even though the pick-up station inside was empty. I told him that the customer service he is offering is not up to the mark and he needs to watch out his tone, and that I will have to reflect this in my review. He threatened me, "DON'T WORRY I HAVE YOUR NAME HERE!" WTH! Honestly, I would never order from this place, because this seems like one of those places where they'd spit in your food if you don't pay tip, even for take-home orders. As for food, it is the most inauthentic Mediterranean food I have eaten in the neighborhood. NOT...
Read moreLiterally the worst. The 12 yo girl who was operating the register was rude and standoffish, I got the distinct vibe that I wasn't welcome so I took my food to go. When I sat down to eat the Greek fries and lamb shawarma, I noticed there was a VERY strange taste to the sauce on the fries and it looked like something that would come out of a human. Scrapped that after a bite, ate my shawarma even though I felt very strange about it considering the obove listed experiences and the taste was not like any shawarma I have had. Cut to two days later being bed ridden with food poisoning, 20 missed hours of work. I'm honestly irate and wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. Whatever they did in that kitchen, purposefully or otherwise is disgusting and no one deserves this sickness. I know it was the food because it's all I ate that day and got sick pretty much...
