I was very excited to take my family here as I saw the reviews and my partner is very excited to try this place however it was absolutely horrendous in both the Customer Service and the food.
When my family and I arrived, we did not know it was a 21+ establishment so we brought my little sister in there and once we found out that it was 21+ we told her leave and decided we get takeout. We took the menus outside so that my little sister, my mother myself and my partner can look at the menus.
When the server came outside, after giving us a moment to look at the menus, she was very rude and disingenuous to my younger sister. We decided to just ignore it and let it go and hope that the food would be worth the terrible experience.
We picked up the food about 30 to 45 minutes after we placed it. We got four meals and one platter – at least we were supposed to.
When my family and I arrived home, we were disheartened to see that the orders were incorrect as well as burnt. We decided we would handle the matter later on and just order something from a different place.
As I stated before, the server customer service was very terrible and she was very rude to my younger sister, so I decided that I would email them, tell them about my experience and inform them that they gave me the wrong food to get a refund. Right off the bat they were very defensive about the food being incorrect and insisted it was because that we got to go orders.
It took quite a while to get a refund and it seemed like they did not want to give us our money back. The last email I just received from Jean Mason. She was very rude in the email. She was telling me that I made falsified statements and that the order was checked by numerous people. She also claimed that the Server was not rude, that other employees Heard and saw the interaction. Which is confusing to me as we were outside, but I digress.
She threatened me and told me that she will be sending my photo out to other restaurants in Capitol Hill, telling them to beware of me that I am trying to scam them as well as other restaurants in Capitol Hill, which is the furthest thing from the truth. This was just horrendous Customer Service as well as horrendous food That was also incorrect. I was simply trying to get my money back.
If Jean does decide to send my photo to other restaurants or to post it online for other people to see, I will be seeking legal action as that is illegal in Washington state. As this would be defamation.
My advice, Don’t ever go to life on Mars unless you want to have horrible food, and Customer Service.
It’s very unfortunate that we had this experience at life on Mars as my partner always wanted to try this place out and she’s very disappointed in what life on Mars have to offer.
Hopefully, life on Mars can come back to earth and realize this is not how you treat...
Read moreSo after the questionable experience I had the last time ate here, I went in to give this place another chance because I liked the food and vibe and still need to get some work done HOWEVER the same bartender who was throwing glass shattering it against the pillar close to where I was eating with no regard for me just stated that I could not come in unless I paid.
Wow!
I guess black business isn't welcome there so they'll never get another black dollar from this black queer!
I hope ownership does better with training its staff to be more hospitable, especially that bartender with the burly beard and long hair because life on mars is a cool spot to be. Just seems very exclusive by the way the staff members and management behave.
I truly hope they do better.
Update following reading the hostile response from Kraig, Beverage Director, received moments ago...
This man Kraig who offered no regard for food safety, believes I am making this something about race by stating the fact of my physical appearance as a black queer man offers more conflict than resolve. I will omit the details of his response to me as those words of hostility do not need to be viewed on Google.
As one who has worked in the service and hospitality industry in excess of 10 years in more than one state, I offer this, GOOD service begets GOOD tipping, so to have staff disregarding my safety while I ate by throwing glass against stone raising the potential for said glass to make its way into my body via the food I was eating is saddening and frankly a confirmation to what I previously shared... Life on Mars disregarded my presence as the human being that I am, and it's ownership obviously condones this seeing kraigs response to me.
Further, for him to state that I did not tip 4/4 times is falsely absurd since I've only sat down to eat here three. And I did tip. It wasn't substantial because I'm a single person struggling to make rent in this city the same as all the folk who work in service.
I will not apologize for sharing my perspective of what I experienced as I factually experienced it. To have this man attempt to invalidate me is sad since the frustration in his response that has nothing to do with me.
To close, if there is issue that I didn't return to tip Gavin, as you mentioned I would, I will gladly return and do so because that is the type of person I am, struggling myself to make...
