As a veteran of over 20 years, my family and I were in the market area looking for places eat. We are currently in the process of getting stationed overseas for the next few years. My kids were looking for a place to sit down since seating is limited in the area. My wife and I picked a snack from a different place nearby (competitor) and sat in the vicinity of Jacks Fish Spot. As we sat down and started eating, the gentleman in the attached picture stared in our direction and started making comments about our choice of food. The open public seating area wasn’t marked as “Jack’s Fish Spot eating area only” , there were no signs anywhere so I didn’t think we did anything wrong. After a minute or so he took out a nerf gun or some type of water gun and said “I’m about to shoot at you guys”. My wife was the one looking at him since my back was towards the ordering counter. At first I thought “Okay he is joking, obviously he is upset we are eating another restaurants food”. Then he just kept doing it. He kept pointing the toy gun a few more time and kept saying he is going to shoot at us. I kept looking over my shoulder and at this point point is where I just started started feeling these thoughts of dread. Being deployed three times in combat environments, definitely set off some PTSD issues I am not proud to say I am dealing with. At this point my wife and I just packed up our stuff and took off. If he would have said this is our seating are we would have just left. Instead we are going overseas with a lasting impression of such an...
Read moreI recently visited Jack Fish Spot and unfortunately, it was a rather disappointing experience. From the moment I walked in, the service was subpar and the overall quality of the food left much to be desired.
First and foremost, the service was lacking. There were only two people manning the register, and it seemed as though they were not adequately prepared to handle the flow of customers. The Latino staff member appeared uninterested in taking my order and suddenly became "busy" when I approached the counter, while the white staff member turned his back and seemed more focused on other tasks.
When it came to the food itself, I was thoroughly unimpressed. Despite the high prices, the taste was far from satisfactory. In fact, some of the dishes I ordered tasted downright unpleasant and left me unsure of what exactly I was consuming. It was a disappointing experience, to say the least.
As a person of color, I couldn't help but notice what seemed like microaggressions and a power play at play, which only added to my dissatisfaction. It's disheartening to encounter such behavior in this day and age, especially when trying to enjoy a meal.
Considering the money I spent on my meal, which totaled $25, I expected much better. The combination of poor service, unappetizing food, and the uncomfortable atmosphere left me feeling like it was a waste of both my time and money.
Overall, I cannot recommend Jack Fish Spot based on my experience. There are many other restaurants in Seattle that offer better service, quality food, and a more welcoming...
Read moreService was efficient but still polite. You order and pay, then step to the side to hear your number called. All food comes on plates to eat in, make sure to ask for it togo, if you don't want to carry a bunch of paper plates and baskets. The fish and chips coming out looked great, but the food I got in my Togo containers was awful. I ordered the cod and halibut, both came with fries. Mine were inedible, as if they had been par cooked and never put back in for their final hot fry off. Fish was okay. Also got the mixed steamers, clams and mussels, with butter and lemon. Bunch of them were crushed or didn't open, mussels still had the beard connected so you could tell these weren't cleaned at all. Chippino was practically vegetable soup, big pieces of tomatoes and zucchini were the bulk of it. Found one shrimp. Took one sip of the broth and knew I didn't need to try anything else, was done and officially turned off from eating. I love seafood and was really looking forward to this splurge, but don't make this mistake. Get the cod, and stay there. Otherwise waste of money. Btw did not travel very far after grabbing the food, just right across the road to the pier, so it's not like the food was sitting or old by the time...
