Their entire menu is vegan. What we got tasted great: we had the garlic jackfruit on sticky rice (was so good), the angel wings, som Tom salad, and pad makau. Some thoughts / observations: Would be nice if the menu showed spicy level (not just say “contains chilli peppers, “MAY” be spicy”… I mean, what does that “may” mean? Yes, spicy can mean different things to different people but providing some sort of scale of mild, medium, hot for example will be helpful). One of the servers who brought the angel wings to our table touched the food in an unappetizing way: basically when the food came to the table, one piece of the mushroom wings was almost falling off of the plate and was kinda resting in the server’s palm so as she placed the plate on our table, she used her finger and did her best not to touch the wing too much but eventually there was basically an “awkward dance” until she was able to dump the mushroom wing back onto the plate (so it just didn’t look too sanitary / appetizing if you think about what else goes on in a restaurant: does she use the same fingers to bus dirty dishes back to the kitchen or handle payments too for example?) Also the som Tom salad, first bite- I got a taste of a vegetable (maybe sprouts) that seemed to be just close to its best before date (or maybe just passed) - wasn’t super fresh. Cabbage on the plate wasn’t pre-cut and I wasn’t given a knife to cut it with either. If this dish is supposed yo be eaten like a wrap style, would be nice to write that down in the menu that this is a wrap kind of salad! The lime in the dish was buried under the other ingredients and looked like it was pre-squeezed (it didn’t look fresh) but also had its skin on, so you could tell it wasn’t a part of the dish either so it didn’t make sense for it to be hidden under the other ingredients. To get the menu, we needed to scan a QR code. As people coming from abroad (Canada), we didn’t want to turn on our roaming to scan the menu - would be nice if they automatically asked us in the beginning if we wanted paper menus or if they included the wifi and password right beneath the QR code for international visitors! Now some pros: We couldn’t decide between the sunny mango salad or the kra-pao with rice - so asked our server for help - she recommended the pad makua, saying it’s not too heavy and also doesn’t have fake meat. Omg it was DELICIOUS! thank you for the suggestion! They also refreshed our table’s water jug without us asking - i just generally appreciate smart service like that! Overall it was great, just thought to share some constructive feedback. If I can in the future, I will come back to this restaurant to try some...
Read moreI was excited to come here after looking at their menu and dined at the Seattle location on Sunday, 19th Feb. It was the worst and most unprofessional service I have ever received in my life, by someone called Borina(?) who was running food and expo. At 8.45pm, when my friend was still eating her main meal, Marsha came up to the table and asked us if we wanted to order any more food because "we are closing right now" so we put our dessert orders in. Before we had even received our desserts which were dropped off just before 9pm, Borina came to the table without any greeting and held the ipad directly up to our faces to take payment. She did not even have the bill on the screen for me to check. The only thing that was on the screen was the assumed autograt of 18%, 20%, and 25%. I asked for the itemized copy twice, which she acknowledged and said she would bring but never actually followed through with. They came with our desserts just before 9pm and very very quickly after they were dropped off, the lights came on which was clearly meant to indicate we were supposed to leave immediately. I understand the staff want to get out asap. However, Borina was not at all subtle and banging the plates very aggressively as she was clearing the other tables. I didn't bother finishing my dessert because she was so loud. We got up to leave at 9.03pm, my friend asked if she could use the bathroom and as I was waiting for her, Borina and Marsha were very loudly talking negatively about us, and making a point of me hearing it. We left the establishment literally no later than 9.13pm. My friend was confused with the hostility she received throughout the night and when she exited the bathroom, asked a girl at the front if we had offended the staff, which is when Borina came over and said (and this is another direct quote), "we dont like it when people dont respect our time." to which my friend asked what she meant by that. Borina then answered, "we close at 9 and its 9.15 now." My friend then asked why would they upsell desserts to us if they were not going to give us time to eat it. Fyi, there is a polite way to let people know of closing times, especially if they have never been to your establishment before. There are also more polite ways to demand your gratuity than just interrupting table conversation and holding the huge ipad right in front of my face. The only one person who smiled at us the whole night was the pink haired server who greeted us with a smile at the door and was very lovely in how she interacted with her tables. Aside from her, completely...
Read moreThis was our first or second time in Kati- first time was an amazing experience with delicious food. But when we visited today, and were ordering the food, the server or the receptionist who comes and takes the order was rude in her tone when I asked her about the wine, dish spicy level - she was like we don’t have levels, we make the way we make. My mood was turned off there and then only. I’m usually more than accommodating and do tip 20%-25% since we all started the same way. Then she was the one to recommend Sweet and sour cashew nut when asked for recommendation. She said it will pair up nicely with Hot basil fried rice. When the appetizer came, it came with tamarind sauce instead of peanut sauce which is common with summer rolls/ we requested peanut sauce and she was rude and said- is this your first time here? To which we said maybe, and she said she can get it but will be extra. We agreed as we wanted summer rolls with peanut sauce.
We didn’t like the sweet and sour tofu look of the dish and it was filled with pineapple. We requested the server to change the dish and she said sure she would do it for us since we didn’t even touch it.
But the receptionist came and said sorry can’t do it, this was our decision, argued rudely - kept on and on while we only said, is it possible to replace it? She gave us a lecture of how this wasn’t her problem and our issue and decision.
She was not friendly to begin with, had a face, retorted and answered questions abruptly. Because of her this experience was extremely unpleasant.
This is NOT the way to treat...
