Went to pick up lattes today which were pretty good the largest latte was around 6.5 (fairly standard) and then seperately ordered a cinnamon roll for my child and the price came to 7.61 for just the roll. I questioned the lady as it seemed high and she told me she doesn't make the pricing and was quite dismissive. I asked if I could see a price list for their bakery items to which she responded they do not have one. I after looked on line because I felt riped off for a roll that didn't even taste fresh and the pricing is much lower on line. I don't know if the cashier didn't care about her job and punched the wrong thing in and couldn't be bothered to check or show any concern but in todays economy it would at least be nice to hear an a bit of empathy other than "well I don't make the pricing". I won't return to purchase coffees from here in the future how can a cinnamon roll be more than their largest latte? They either need to figure out their pricing...
Read moreI've been frequenting Seattle Coffee Works (and Ballard, Capitol Hill, and now Cascade) for years. The owner, Sebastian, was in the store more often in the early days and was able to explain the difference between the various beans he sourced from all over the world. After a bit of experimentation at the "Slow Bar" I determined that I prefer East African beans, grown at high altitude, lightly roasted. They sell coffee tins to store your beans in that enable them to keep and reuse the coffee bags. They save money on bags which allows them to offer a discount plus a free drink. I occasionally purchase beans from other shops but even with all the fabulous coffee shops and roasters in Seattle, it's rare that the whole experience comes close to Cascade (Seattle/Ballard/Capitol Hill) Coffee Works. Thank you Sebastian for showing me that there is better coffee in the world than Foldgers "brewed" in a percolator. (That nasty swill is what I grew up...
Read moreThe Grand Opening was awesome! The coffee tastes pretty standard (not in a bad way) but it's what you can expect from a Seattle third wave coffee shop. What really shines here is the customer service and the atmosphere. Bustling from Amazon employees and SLU residents, the little shop doesn't feel overwhelmed but inviting. Large industrial windows and wooden details keep the space feeling open and modern. The staff are some of the nicest around! Worth checking out no matter what part of the city you're...
