Truly a sad experience. I’ve been to restaurants where the service was lacking, but this was probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced. My husband and I showed up to a fairly empty restaurant and sat down. It took fifteen minutes to even be acknowledged. That probably sounds like an exaggeration, but we were walked past half a dozen times while the waiter was having a nice long conversation with another table. Eventually, the bartender left his post to bring us water. About five minutes later we ordered and the starters came out pretty quickly and were very good (tomato basil soup and wings). The bartender dropped the starters off at the table and said he would be back with some wet napkins (for wing fingers) and more water. We were entirely finished with our starters about 20 minutes later when he finally brought the napkins, but hands had already been washed anyway.we asked again for water. Still no water. 10 or so minutes later I saw our order get put in the counter from the kitchen and the bell rang indicating it was ready. I stared at it and kept trying to make eye contact across to the bar or even to the other waiter. Nothing. Five minutes later, the cook hit the bell twice more to let them know food was ready. Still nothing. Five more minutes passed and he rang the bell another time. After about three more minutes, the waiter walked our food to us and we asked him for water. No water. 15 more minutes and he was having a nice long conversation with another customer who was there for a call in order. Still no water. Then after we picked through our entrees, the bartender came to finally clear the starter plates and the waiter brought us water. I was truly astonished at how abysmal the service was. I also don’t leave a horrendous review at every restaurant that isn’t perfect, but this was honestly horrible. And to top it off, I’ve not had a worse steak anywhere. I’ve also not heard someone in the service industry make some many excuses for why the service was bad. If you’re making excuses, you know the service was bad. Don’t apologize. Just do better. But the mashed potatoes, green beans, soup, and fries were very good. 1/10 would...
Read moreWow was this a great experience! The tomato basil soup is – and I thought very hard about this – the best I’ve had anywhere. It’s so good and sturdy, I’d even put over pasta as a sauce. I had the cheeseburger just as specified on the menu and it was perfectly cooked and deliciously messy (hey, the mess comes with the territory). My wife had the French onion soup and crab cake. Both were exemplary and the crab cake – which was more crab than cake – was accompanied by a lightly spice aioli that was out of this world AND delicious on fries as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would be happy to go back. Here's why I didn’t give it 5 stars. The manager really pissed me off with her lazy do-nothing performance. We were there on Friday evening August 29, 2025. My seat faced her station so I got to watch this woman wander around the kitchen area, stare at her phone and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING while her outnumbered wait staff hustled their butts off to provide decent service. Seriously, the wait staff was killing it, but just too outmanned to provide really good service. So while they were literally running at times, this slack-jawed manager was looking at her phone. Is it really that hard for here to pick up a pitcher and refill some water glasses or refill drinks as opposed to hanging out by the grill doing nothing??? If I were her supervisor, she’d have been fired on the spot. That wait staff deserves so much better than her...
Read moreParking on the Street was easily found nearby the restaurant. The location is directly across the street from the Cinerama Theater. We were warmly greeted by the hostess as we opened the door. She showed us to our window table. There was only one other family in the restaurant on this Saturday night. This should have been our first clue. The French soup was attractive but the bread tasted stale and not much flavor was found from the broth. My shrimp and chip dinner was hearty but the thick batter was soaked in oil. I squeezed as much oil out of each prawn out on my napkin before I ate it removing half of the dough. My husband's fish and chips were the same. Oil soaked batter. We ordered an apple oatmeal dessert with a scoop of ice cream on top to share. The apples were still crisp and half-cooked. It was barely warm. The ice cream did not even melt on top of it. Even though there were two of us splitting it, we couldn't finish it. It was half cooked. Our courses were served to us timely, however, table service as in checking in was rare. No, hows your dinner or hows it going occurred. Really there was no excuse since we were one of the first customers for dinner and they were very few people in the restaurant. If you need to use the restroom you have to climb two sets of stairs to the second floor after tracking down a card key to to open the door. The atmosphere is very nice however we would not...
