Had high hopes but disappointed. At first, I was super pleased with my initial experience. The nail techs are very talented and sweet but it’s been my 3rd visit within 2.5 weeks getting a gel x mani set on the 16th (dm’s show screenshot of time/date) where 2 nails broke off within 10 days. I was told gel x was supposed to last 4-6 weeks and albeit the fix was free, I wasn’t even told the repair policy in full until I asked toward the end of 1 of 2 nail repair services.
My first complaint is that in my dm’s with the owner, it was NOT clear on the EXPIRATION window for the free nail repair. Our messages did NOT CLARIFY I had within 7 days and I felt like an asshole asking if my service/nail adjustment was free 3 days after the repair window. If I had known, I of course would’ve been more than willing to pay (& tip b/c service workers deserve it!). I brought up our dm’s up to the owner today (7/2) in hopes of getting a new mani set but I was shut down and told that they have a fee after 7days but my point was that I was never told I have 7 days in the first place. It was very misleading and I felt guilty for not knowing. I was also almost charged for asking them to trim one of my broken nails…(again the nails lasted 1.5weeks).
My mom was a nail tech for a decade so I have tremendous respect for the hard work nail technicians do daily. I also work in customer service and I truly respect everyone in this industry. But the lack of I’m communication and trying to steer the blame in a way onto me for wanting nail extensions added to my service today felt wrong. I took accountability and apologized for not being clear in my messages with the owner, but it didn’t feel reciprocal. I admit that in my head, wanting a “new set” today to include nail extensions might’ve been a far stretch, but I wish this offer was more clear to me since my situation was clearly unique.
I ended up not getting the dip fill that was offered to me and just had the gel x removed & had my nails filed/cut as I was disappointed with the lack of acknowledgment in communication. I kept being told the free dip fill offer, and as much as I appreciated the offer/heard the owner repeat it, that does not change the fact that I was promised a long lasting nail set that didn’t even end up lasting 2weeks. Not to forget that this was my 2nd reschedule as they canceled on me last min over the weekend regarding repairing my nails the second time. I felt like I’ve been quite flexible and understanding in my messages with the owner only to have a negative experience.
My only advice for customers is to be clear with the owner on pricing to avoid a mishap like this in the future. Apparently if you have oily skin, gel x nails will not last long on you. I’ll be going elsewhere moving forward for nail services but my time here was lovely and the nail techs...
Read moreEDIT to respond to the business response claiming gel removal is on the menu: The menu said $15 for GelX or $20 for acrylic removal, neither of which I had. Also, if the menu had it gel removal specifically listed, why did the first person who gave me the price for gel removal say $10 at first, then change the second person change the price to $12 after I pointed out that gel removal was not in the menu they showed me? And then why did the person who finished my removal tell me she was changing the price AFTER she was done because she used a manual file? This dishonest response underscores the general dishonesty you can expect from this business. AVOID IT! Attaching photos of the menu that is hanging on their sign outside.
Do NOT come here! They are very dishonest about their service pricing.
I went twice (walk-in), once for a gel manicure and once for gel removal. The gel manicure was fine, not the best or worst.
But when I went in for a quick walk-in gel polish removal today (I did not have time for another service), things went VERY wrong. I was told they could accommodate my walk-in request and it would cost $10, which is in line with other nail salons, so I agreed and sat down. When I looked at their menu of services they gave me, it did not specifically list gel removal. When I pointed that out, a group of manicurists spoke in Vietnamese and changed the price to $12. Okay, whatever. I’m already here, I was fine with paying $12. I had planned on paying $15 with tip, so it wasn’t going to change anything on my end.
The first manicurist sat down and started with the drill file but she nicked my skin, so I pulled back and said “ouch.” She then had another conversation with a second manicurist in Viet, and the second manicurist sat down and finished the removal by removing the gel polish manually. It was fine (except I think she took a full layer of nail off my right index fingernail, because it was super bendy after).
BUT THEN, in the end she said “OK it $15 for you.” And when I said they told me $10 and $12. Why $15? She said it was because she removed my polish manually. I was never asked or told that they were going to change the way they removed my polish, and thus it would cost more. They just discussed it among themself in Vietnamese, and sprung the charge on me after they were done.
I gave them my card and it looks like they charged me $15.65. I guess there was a 4.33% tax or credit card fee? Dishonest AF. I will...
Read moreMy first experience at a nail salon in the US was absolutely terrible. The staff member who guided me in completely ruined it. She was incredibly rude and blunt. As an Indian, this was my first time at a salon in the US, and when I walked in, I requested 'Gel Nails.' In my mind, I thought this meant gel nails with fake extensions, but for some reason, she understood it as a gel manicure and assigned someone else to do my nails.
Since I knew that fake extensions required nails to be clean and short, I had already done a quick manicure at home. The person who was assigned to me started giving me a manicure, which confused me, but since it was my first time there, I assumed it was just part of the process. This person was very sweet and nice, and she even asked me to choose a color. However, just before she was about to apply it, I confirmed with her that I wanted fake nail extensions, the gel nails. She then spoke to the staff who had guided me in, in a foreign language. Immediately after, that staff member spoke to me very rudely, saying, "I asked you very clearly when you walked through that door what you wanted—if you wanted fake nails or a gel manicure." I replied that maybe I got confused, but she rudely insisted, "I did not confuse you; I was very clear." To avoid causing a scene, I simply said, "Okay, maybe you were clear, and I got confused."
Disappointed as I was, the person doing my nails tried to make me feel better, which was very sweet of her. After the service, I rushed out and started crying because this was my first experience, and that staff member's attitude completely ruined it—especially since it was my birthday, and I was getting this done for the occasion.
Looking back, I realized I never used the word 'manicure,' so the staff either assumed I wanted a gel manicure or gave the wrong instructions to the person doing my nails. Customers can get confused, staff can confused but there is a way to talk to people. And if you cannot talk to customers well, you shouldn't be in the business. I hope this reaches the staff who I am addressing here, she is usually the person who greets people in and takes calls.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone; honestly, the place is a mess, and with staff like that lady, it was the most unwelcoming...
