After searching high and low for some good donuts in Seattle, we found the Top Pot location in SLU that was open on Labor Day. I know this is technically a coffee place but for us, their donuts were the main event.
The location we visited had great decor inside, much better than your typical coffee/donut spot. Both opposing side walls were covered in massive bookcases that stretched two stories to the ceiling. The lofted second floor had a sizable dining area where you can sit and eat, read or write (in typical Seattle fashion).
We got some (great!) coffee and a half dozen donuts that came in a box with wonderful branding. I love that this place has a wide variety of BOTH cake and Old Fashioned (sour cream) style donuts. We got an old fashioned lemon, old fashioned glazed, old fashioned chocolate glazed, blueberry fritter, cookies and cream, and a raspberry chocolate glazed.
They were all really good but the fritter was the tea link. I would stick with the old fashioned varieties. I think these may be some of the best donuts in Seattle, at least they certainly have the...
Read moreTop Pot has a good reputation but the quality and customer service is hit or miss, sometimes in the same visit. Because I had time to burn before a hair appointment a week ago I stopped at the 5th Ave store on the spur of the moment for espresso and a donut. The espresso was on the bitter side but the cinnamon sugar donut was perfect. It was soft with good cinnamon flavor, customer service was ok. Stopped there yesterday before an appointment to pick up coffee, scone and donuts. Coffee was bitter, cinnamon sugar donuts & parmesan dill scone were dry and two of the three people at the counter apparently left their customer service skills at home. Only one of them bothered to smile and the female with the short brown bob haircut was just surly. I realize it was a only 830am on a Saturday but she chose that job. Anyway my nail person was really nice and thankful for "treats" and coffee but I noticed she only took one bite of the donut while I was soaking and put it back and a couple of drinks of the coffee before she covered it up and...
Read moreThis is the flagship location of Top Pot Doughnuts and it's the coolest donut shop I've ever been to! It's got two floors and huge floor to ceiling windows that allow for plenty of natural light to come in. There are bookshelves all around and it kind of made me feel like I had walked into the library that was given to Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast!
Service was good. The man who helped us was very friendly and energetic. He was very good about offering recommendations and answering any questions that we had.
On the table: Cherry Blossom drink Chai Pershing Cookies n Cream
We all "Perferred" the Pershing over the Cookies n Cream. Cookies n Cream was delicious; however, a bit too rich and filling for our tastes. The Pershing was kind of like a cross between a doughnut and a cinnamon roll. We love doughnuts and we love cinnamon rolls so what's not to love about the two of them being brought together into one?!
