I absolutely love this shop! I can't resist stopping in every time I attempt to pass on by. Furthermore, I can't seem to leave without finding some great deal or awesome new products! The day staff are the greatest! Not so much for the closing shift, which isn't that surprising when you hire kids either in college, recently quit, or barely graduated high school. Most are okay I guess, they seem to at least try to help albeit always unsuccessful due to their lack of experience or possibly even interest with hardware.
The last time I had the misfortune of being "helped" by all three of the evening associates during shift change, and the difference was night and day. Specifically, there was one guy, Colin I think - will update this post when I find out for sure. Well, he was too busy screwing around with a jammed lock (using a screwdriver or pick tool like some caveman; I bet it's the first time he's tried using a tool in years), too busy to be bothered to help any customer that approached his register, delaying customers quite rudely and delegating every task to the other two like he was the freakin owner of the whole chain of Ace stores.
Additionally, ever since they switched their rewards program to strictly digital instead of mailing a certificate, I've lost $200 - $450 in bonus certificates from using them as my primary source for my handyman and general contractors business. Nearly a full decade of patronage doesn't amount to a hill of beans to upper management/corporate relations. If it doesn't directly inflate their profit margins and line their pockets, they have no interest.
Looks like I'll be going to the capitol hill hardware store. They are a bit cheaper when you disregard the rewards bonuses.(or get blatantly scammed and told essentially that my business isn't worth much to Ace), especially if it's after...
Read moreI’m disabled. I needed an item that was only in stock at this location in downtown Seattle where the parking is notoriously difficult. I saw that the store offered “CURBSIDE DELIVERY”, so I thought this would be okay for me to order my item and pick it up curbside. When I arrive there, I call the number included in the email (where it also confirmed curbside delivery and gave me instructions for picking up curbside), and the guy that picked up goes “yeah we don’t do that.” I am literally parked ten feet out the front door, I tell him that the website confirmed me curbside and as a disabled person I was counting on that service (which, I repeat, was offered to me through the website and then confirmed via email). He responds “yeah well that sucks.”
So, I, a disabled person, found the closest street parking I could, over two city blocks away, and walked my disabled self those two city blocks with my service animal to retrieve an item that the worker (who to my knowledge was perfectly able-bodied enough to walk the item out curbside, which I repeat, was a service both offered and confirmed).
I get into the store and I’m greeted politely, but as soon as I mention that I’m here for my curbside order, the tone shifts. The worker flails his arms up and gives a deep sigh, goes to the back, grabs my item, and throws it into my hands, “happy?” He says as I just stand there with my service animal, wondering what on earth is wrong with this employee.
Not only was I not given the service I was offered and counted on as a disabled person, but I was treated like a problem when I pointed out that I wasn’t receiving the service that was confirmed via email.
I called afterwards to see if I could get an explanation from a manager and was called a “f—k face” and hung up on.
What a horrible store with horrible people...
Read morePurchased an Ace Hardware brand product here about a month ago and was told that even though the product is BRAND NEW and UNUSED, and an Ace Hardware brand product, they are still unwilling to return the item as I do not have a receipt!! And even though this item was purchased from a LOCKED CASE, they still gave me the line about people stealing stuff and they can't return it! Privately owned corporate stores like this and McDonald's, etc. are why people many times don't shop with the little guy. When you're so blatantly unwilling to bend for your customers, why wouldn't people go shop at Walmart? They don't really seem to care too much about returning a product for a customer that is under $30. What happened to the customer's always right? Don't understand help place to stay in business when they don't follow this ideology. Will not be back. Will pass the word along to others that it is unsafe to spend your money here as there is no guarantee that you will be happy with your product. ** may all businesses like this go out of business to make room for better businesses with the customer in mind. I guess you guys need to be reminded that without the customer you wouldn't exist...
UPDATE: Corporate called back and said that the store is willing to return the product for a cash refund as long as I bring it back and they determine that it is new and unused. Will...
