I didnt want to have to write this review. But my girlfriend and I came to Seattle on vacation... I am unsure if the locals just hate tourists or if we just have faces that scream "be rude and/or passive aggressive to us" because that has been the experience everywhere we went. Molly Moons was no exception.
My girlfriend and I had a rough visit and decided to hit up this location before visiting Kerry Park for the view. As soon as we entered a sassy individual with glasses behind the counter immediately began their barrage of passive aggressive treatment. When I said "I would like the Hot Fudge Sundae" they said "Okayyyy?" With attitude like "What do you want me to do about it?" I didnt know it didnt come with a specific flavor and had to choose, they acted annoyed that had the audacity to have never been there before and not already have this knowledge.
I asked "Well what would you recommend" and again they acted annoyed and pointed to the flavors listed on the menu. Which didnt answer my question. I like to ask the employees which flavors/menu items they like because they usually have a good idea of whats best. But this employee seemed like they wanted me gone.
After making my Sundae they "handed" it to me by letting go before I barely had a grip on it and said "Oops" with a smirk. Before much more politely handing my girlfriend her order.
In the unlikely situation that it will matter. This employee was wearing glasses and was there around 8 PM today (Tuesday, August 15) if you read this and wanna avoid the rude employee.
To make it more obvious that I was targeted, someone who was clearly a regular came in behind us and their attitude changed to smiles and friendliness with them right away.
I have never felt so bullied and worthless going into an Ice Cream shop in my life. Like, im sorry if the employee was having a rough day but I dont see why you have to take it out on me.
The ice cream was good. Its a shame the employees either hate tourists or just hate...
Read moreMy family and I are visiting for the week and I’ve been trying so hard to find some creamy, homemade ice cream. Based on the number of locations, line, and the internet this seemed like the place. I loved the staff (super helpful and kind), aesthetic, and values of the place (black lives matter, pro-pride, pet friendly, no-tip, etc.). I love ice cream and really wanted to love this place and skip out of it singing its praises with one of its amazing shirts in hand (Molly if you see this, would still love the green shirt with the amazing affirmations on it that an employee was wearing but was not being sold at the moment ;)) but I got the sweet cream and blueberry pie. It was salty, very salty, so salty that I had to ask my family to try and they agreed. I have sodium issues and ice cream has never been something I have had to worry about, but those flavors are just really salty. My father got vanilla and that too was quite salty. Only my mother’s, which was chocolate, was the kind of sweet and creamy treat I have come to expect in ice cream. I also wish the wonderful staff member who I asked about the sodium had more nutritional info just to see if I would need to take some extra meds. Go to this place for sure but if you have any kind of sodium sensitivity, or just really expect ice cream to be more sweet than anything, maybe avoid the...
Read moreMolly moon gets three stars for the cute name and charm appeal of the store itself. That being said, the ice cream is ok, like the inexperienced young people who work there. The flavors seem to be trying but the combinations just are off, mint fudge brownie? The Caramel was awful tasted burnt but not in a good way. Sweet Cream is the substitute for vanilla, does it taste like Vanilla? I asked,Pretty Much was the answer and also not true, it does not. I asked for a scoop of vanilla with caramel sauce and whipped cream and nuts, a classic sundae, received, sweet cream with bland sauce basic whipped cream and a granola on top. What is this? I asked, Nuts, said the employee. Yes i know i asked for nuts but this tastes like granola. Its hazelnuts said the employee which is not a classic nut topping for a sundae which i asked for. Dont they know that nuts on a sundae are always peanuts unless you let someone know. We have hazelnut dislike by our little one requesting the sundae. No smiles by the staff, the girl on register couldnt be more bored and less friendly . Two children’s size scoops in a cone, and one child sundae came to $22 dollars, which is a joke. Total experience was not nice and the ice cream was mediocre at best. NO THANKS....
