I returned the next day! The first day my sister was in town from the east coast, it was her last full day here and as I was showing her around town. We had just finished the MoPop museum and walking all throughout the exhibit, needless to say, we had something to eat on our minds but had much to do! As I was heading to Ye Olde Curiousity Shop we began passing the restaurant, I looked to her and asked if she'd want to split one and she said yes so as she went ahead to check out the curious before they closed, I scurried in the see what was left as it was the end of the night. I walked in and immediately was helped in a friendly manner greeted by a worker named Annette who was very helpful in suggesting her favorites when I asked as I had never been there before and was in a hurry to meet with my sister to then dash to the top of the needle continuing our city tour, she caught I was in a hurry and quickly told me about the meal deal of grabbing a drink as well (thankful as we both needed to hydrate) and I grabbed an apple juice to go along with our recommended steak and mushroom and chicken meat pies (hard to decide from her recommendations, so I chose 2). Quick in and out and both tasted amazing, I as well as my sister were very impressed and gobbled them up en route! I returned, after resting most of the day the following evening as both my sister and I were raving about it to my partner and their parents prior to heading to the airport that day so we decided to grab it for dinner. We grabbed a few new ones as well as my primary favorite I had tried the previous day. I was greeted by Annette again who, an hour before closing, was limited to some options but offered to make all the ones I requested fresh as there was only 2 of the 6 items I ordered ready. I took one of the already made items, the mac and cheese pie, as an appetizer as we waited, to help relieve their already made stock they had left, and it was still very good as she took 35 minutes to make the other 5 items I ordered and again I grabbed something to drink per her recommendation of last time. I came back in to pick up and I learned a bit about the store and how they recently opened up another location in Renton and even have one in Poulsbo where my family goes to shop often as we have family who has property that way. All in all, I have to rave about the amazing service from Annette, the great tasting pies that have come to be no less than pure pleasure to the tastebuds, and affordable pricing for an asthetically pleasing and savory...
Read moreI brought my 70 year old Mother to the pier for a day out, I ordered two pies for two people. Easy yes? Now, I asked for caramelized onions at the cashiers suggestion so I wasn't surprised it took twenty minutes to get my Mother her pie. What I thought was a little weird was when I pushed the plate over to my Mothers side when he placed it in front of me was the offer for another set of forks. Do people share such small pies? I declined the offer, indicateing it was my Mothers. I then waited another 10 minutes for my apple peach cobbler. I know this, I had the receipt texted to me. At which point a different server came out and asked us how things were and I mentioned I was still waiting. She suggests he might have thought we wanted to wait until we'd finished. Finished what? I'd ordered two pies for two people. What was there to wait for? Shes asks if I'd like some ice cream or whipped cream to go with the tart and I say yes. She must be apologizing for the long wait, yes?
She Brings. My Pie. With Two. Spoons.
I am HUMILIATED! WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL??? WHAT KIND SICK BULLYING IS THIS??? I'm not going any store at pier...
Read moreThe pie was good. I got the beef and mushroom. The problem was, as others have said, they tack on charges to inflate the prices. One was maybe 12 cents for a to-go order. Seems more than reasonable. Then they tacked on almost ten percent for a "minimum wage adjustment". Then asked me for a tip. I asked what the minimum wage adjustment was and the cashier emphatically insisted that it went towards "the building". He said the employees there did not make minimum wage. Note that I didn't ask if they made minimum wage, I just asked what the "minimum wage adjustment" was and he spoke for about 30 seconds trying to justify it, finishing with "you still need to tip".
Look, I'm really sorry your boss/the owner is a jerk. But to me as a customer, having an unexpected 10% service charge and then an ask for an additional 20% gratuity (yes, including a gratuity for part of the service charge) is going to get a one star review.
I'm not going to blame the guy running the counter, but he does need to find a job...
