I’ve been waiting to do a review until my wife and I’ve had a fair number of meals to form an opinion on. The food here is amazing. Sorry, the food here is ALWAYS amazing. Well, that’s the end of that part of the review. If you’re looking for perfectly executed northwest fare, you’ve come to the right place. Drinks are also top-notch. Bloody Mary bliss, FYI (and not too salty). We’ve been here 7 or 8 times now, a few brunches and happy hours and dinners and can rave endlessly about the view and the food. ‘Nuf said.
HOWEVER, we had an odd experience that soured our Sunday morning. Nothing horrible, but worthy of feedback. We didn’t have reservations for the dining room (for brunch), and they couldn’t accommodate - no big deal. We grabbed a table in the lounge and were more or less promptly greeted and got our order in. Friendly server - so far, so good. Drinks are amazing. View is amazing. Two problems:
30-40 minutes later, we’re like “what the hell is taking so long?” (food)...FOUR other couples/parties that sat down AFTER us, were enjoying their brunch as we longingly looked on. Yes, it’s a bustling Sunday morning, but these guys are dialed-in (remember, we’ve been here several times before, for brunch, so we know what the expect), and this wait was really abnormal. Someone screwed up. The food finally comes out, with a brief apology, despite the injustice...argh.
The food is amazing. Except for an English muffin. It’s BARELY toasted. Like no crunch, not even a hint of color. White. Doughy. Barely warmed. Not a big deal; it’s our only complaint of any kind. The food is otherwise expertly prepared, as usual, but after the order screw up/long wait, it’s frustrating. My wife asked if she could get it toasted a little more. Are told they’ll get another one toasted. Now, on an eggs/bacon/“toast” breakfast plate, you need all three components to make a bite, ja? I mean, that’s what my wife likes to do. You spoon a little slice of fried egg and a chunk of bacon on your crispy English muffin (or toast) and BAM! The trifecta is so much more than the sum of the flavors. So, while you’re waiting for that English muffin to come out, your eggs and bacon are cooling down. No joke, after five minutes (an eternity when your eggs are cooling down), my wife gives up hope and just eats her eggs and bacon, sans carbs. Boo hoo, at least we’re not Syrian refugees, right? Yes, I know, break out a tiny violin, but still. FIFTEEN minutes later, the bartender comes our direction, with a large dinner plate with TWO English muffins on it. He heads for an adjacent table and proceeds to use his bare hand to grab one of the English muffins off the plate he’s carrying, and set it on the other patron’s breakfast plate (I guess he too had issue with the English muffin he had first been served). WITH HIS BARE HAND. Then, he comes to us and does the exact same thing, setting down an also marginally toasted muffin - almost a duplicate of the first one that’s still sitting on my wife’s plate, right next to the new one - again with his bare hand. If I hadn’t witnessed it myself, I wouldn’t believe it. This isn’t a “just-sanitized-his-hands-chef” in the kitchen doing some clean-handed chef magic. This is a (no offense, man) grimy-handed, money-touching, alcohol bottle-twirling bartender touching our bare food. If he had just set the plate on our table, he would have only man-handled ONE patron’s English muffin (the other guys’), but he somehow felt the need to use his bare hand to deliver the muffin to my wife’s plate. Maybe he really needed to get it back to the kitchen because they were running low on plates? (I don’t think so)
My wife and I stare at each other in disbelief as he walks away. So, there’s no way my wife is eating either the first (pale, and now completely cold) English muffin, or the also pale, new, bare-hand-touched one. We complain, get a THIRD muffin. FINALLY, it’s perfectly toasted and buttered, but our plates are cleared (a LOT of time has gone by), and I have to go track down a knife to spread jam on this...

Wish we had spent our anniversary somewhere where we felt welcomed. We came here for our wedding anniversary. We have a toddler and among other complications which caused late planning. When we reserved, we asked for a window seat because it’s our anniversary and we hardly get to come out with our busy lives.
The hostess was extremely rude texting us as a matter of fact that we will not be sitting next to the window but we would be getting a booth. I told her that it’s our anniversary and would want the view because we actually were coming mostly for the view, and would rather not get seated in a dark corner which would ruin our experience.
When we got to the restaurant the hostess was very standoffish. We saw there were plenty of tables by the window available, she just did not like that we requested for window for our anniversary. Not because we were just randomly feeling entitled for a window seat but that it was a special occasion. She sat us next to a window seat anyway but did not look happy about it. She never greeted us, and when I said thank you, she did not respond. She gave us the cold shoulder the entire time while seating us. I’m guessing she didn’t bother telling the waitress it was our anniversary because even the waitress didn’t greet us like we have been greeted in the past when it’s a special occasion.
The waitress was nice enough but felt she was stretched thin managing multiple tables all by herself that we had a very long wait time. It was our first time coming to a restaurant during a special occasion that felt like no one really cared or bothered to put in effort to make us feel happy to be there. They all frankly looked sad, depressed, and wished they were not having to work today.
When we were ordering our food at 10:30am for brunch, everything we wanted was sold out. This would have been a better experience if the hostess while seating us let us know in advanced what items were sold out. We heard other tables experiencing the same issue… as they spent lots of time perusing the menu, only to be told when the waitress arrived that it was not available. The waitress was nice enough to substitute Dungeness crab Benedict with salmon since they were out of literally 80% of the seafood items we wanted… despite this being a seafood restaurant.
When we got our food, the person came out giving us someone else’s order. We had to tell the waitress AND the person what our orders are. It’s embarrassing that you can’t do something as standard as remember what your customers in an half empty restaurant ordered. Even my latte and my husband cappuccino got mixed up.
After paying and walking out, the hostess did not bother saying thank you. Just completely stood there and did not look at us, once again giving us the cold shoulder.
Overall, the food was slightly above average and the view was nice. The service was absolutely terrible. I will not be coming back here nor would I recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of delicious places to eat in Seattle with water views. We also felt that the owner was also oblivious about how unprofessional his...

Food: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Overall: 4 stars
We came here for the first time for the Valentine's dinner, and everything was good but the portion is on the smaller side (compared to regular portions, not fine dining portions). Upon entry, they checked my reservation and took us to a nice "half" booth that was super cozy. However, it's in the back and you don't really get a view. It's also quite dark out, so there's not much to see in the first place.
For Valentine's Day, they have a set menu and you can choose your starter, soup/salad, entree, and dessert. Here are the list of what we ate:
amuse-bouche: spicy tuna tartlet: my husband said: "Tuna is tuna, but the crust is too thick."
starters: salmon gravlax rose: the presentation is beautiful, but we didn't realize the salmon is also raw. It was tender and had a hint of beet. crab and cream croquettes: this one was delicious. The sauce was a bit sweet, but the croquettes were hot and full of crab meat at each bite.
soup/salad: clam chowder: this one is more standard, and I think it's hard to mess up clam chowder.
entrees: lobster pasta: delicious pasta, but the portion is small. They do come with tons of lobster meat and a nice half-cooked egg for mixing. duck a l'orange: The duck meat was juicy and tender, and the braised veggies were not overly cooked. The sauce has a hint of ginger, which may not be everyone's cup of tea though.
desserts: lemon & ricotta cheesecake: It's great, but the texture is more crumbly than regular cheesecake (it's not as dense as NY cheesecake). I also like how it's more sour due to the lemon. Washington apple tart: This is delicious, but it's also a safe choice. It comes with vanilla ice cream in a small dip dish, and it melts quickly.
I enjoyed our meal, but it felt a bit rushed as the waiter removed our plates quite quickly after we finished our food. Don't get me wrong, he's a great worker and works hard, but I just felt a bit rushed. The restaurant also gave us a gift voucher to come back and use to get some cocktails, a piece of rose, and two chocolates to enjoy at home.
We ate for around an hour, but the valet parking was expensive. I read reviews that it was $15+tax, but it's $20+tax now, and I believe they added a tip as well since they took $25 for parking. It's less of an issue, but I wish they could just say $25 instead of $20 plus tip LOL.
The course menu was $125 per person, but they didn't add any duck maintenance fee or tip in advance. I saw a lot of people complain about the 5% duck maintenance fee in the reviews, so I wonder if they already added it...
