While visiting Seattle, we had lunch at Pub 70 on their patio. For drinks, we enjoyed the Alaskan Brewing White Ale, the Lucky Envelope Brewing Blood Orange IPA, and the Republic of Cider Plum & Pucker Cider. For lunch, we had a Creamy Clam & Leek Chowder, Marinated Kale Salad, Garlic Manila Clams, Pub 70 Reuben, and Pub 70 Burger. The Creamy Clam & Leek Chowder consists of a creamy chowder cooked with diver-harvested clams, bacon, leeks, sweet cream, celery, carrot and onion, topped with fresh dill and chopped bacon, and served with grilled bread. The Marinated Kale Salad consisted of kale marinated in apple cider, tossed with with honey crisp apple chunks, fresh cherry tomatoes, seasonal radish, shaved fennel, coriander dukkah and vegan granola. The Garlic Manila Clams consisted of manila clams cooked with cherry tomato, peppers, and garlic in a flavorful white wine broth. It was also served with grilled bread. When we ordered this dish, we didn't know that peppers meant fresno chili peppers. It was spicier than most of us would have liked. The Pub 70 Burger consisted of 8 oz burger patty topped with Tillamook white cheddar, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickled red onions and dijonaise on a toasted brioche bun. The burger was dry and well done. The Pub 70 Reuben wasn't your typical reuben. It consisted of thick-cut corned beef brisket, special sauce, and stone ground mustard sauerkraut on toasted caraway rye bread. I didn't like their take on the classic sandwich nor enjoy the stone ground mustard sauerkraut.

We visited this pub based on a recommendation by our hotel staff that had great gluten free options. We were a group of 6 and were seated outside with a great view. Our food we ordered was delicious. Our server started off great then was less than pleasent. We were very impressed with him taking our order all by memory (then repeating it back properly). However as he came out in the middle of our tables discussions, he promptly stated "I'm trans, I want to be addressed as she/her." Ironically enough, our conversation had nothing to do with him, trans or any other LGBTQIA+ people. Why he decided to share this with us we have no idea. Interestingly enough, there was no problem with him forcing us to tip him 18% because we had a group of 6 people. If I'm ever back in Seattle, I will most likely avoid Pub70 because of this experience. Our table could have cared less about this person wanted to identify as, we just wanted our lunch.

I got the birria tacos and the chilaquile nachos. Both were absolutely delicious! The meat in the tacos was very well seasoned, with just a touch of some kind of warming spice that i couldnt quite put my finger on, a little cinnamon or clove maybe? The flavor was excellent and the meat was incredibly tender. along with the crispy, chewy, cheesy taco shells and a rich dark dipping sauce.....MY GAWDDDD. Another thing, I love when a dish is thoughtfully presented by someone who obviously sits down and eats it themselves, and that's how this was served. They came with finely chopped onions and cilantro on the side. i mention "finely chopped" because sometimes the onions are so chunky that they are annoying to chew and chomp down on. That was not the case with these tacos! Plus, they came with TWO house made salsas, AND house made guacamole! I love it when i get to try both a red and green salsa and I don't have to ask for them! Both salsas were super flavorful and spicy, but not so spicy that they just burned, so I could still taste all the flavors. Plus the consistency of the salsas was perfect! not too thin and not too thick. The guacamole put the whole thing over the top into decadence! The guac was a nice consistency as well, not too chunky and not too smooth (smooth guac is just....not right). Can you tell i like textures? Besides tasting delicious, the tacos were tender and soft, crispy and chewy, with lots of juicy sauces. A texture smorgasbord as well as a flavor cornucopia! A smorgacopia! Next, the chilaquile nachos. These were better than any other chilaquiles I've had, and i LOVE chilaquiles! I get them every time they are on the menu. They used thin chips that were dressed in sauce in just the right amount so the chips still kept some of their crispiness, but also had maximum flavor with minimal sogginess. They were smoky, spicy, and just a teeny tiny bit sweet, like a whisper of barbecue sauce. Every single chip was coated in sauce so not one bite was bland. They really packed in the flavor! They were lightly topped with cheese, onion, peppers and cilantro which worked perfectly with the flavors of the salsa. They were not melty-cheese heavy; the sauce is the star of the dish and the sauce is theBOMB.COM. (a dated reference which will surely give you some idea of my age.) I am so excited to try everything else on the menu! I love how much better the food is than what used to be in this space (a dive bar with dive bar food). They kept some of the same staff (including the very handsome, super tall bartender with the shaggy hair), and it still has a cozy neighborhood bar feel, especially after dark. Oh and the drinks! The drinks have improved so much since they reopened! They are creative and fresh, with lots of interesting flavor combinations. I had the smoky strawberry margarita and the blackberry vodka sparkling lemonade! Yes, BLACKBERRY+VODKA+SPARKLING+LEMONADE=DELICIOUS! Not overly sweet, with lots of blackberry flavor! The service was excellent - everyone we interacted with was friendly, from the attractive bartender (who i may have a small crush on) to the person who dropped off the food to the person who took our plates. The booths were cozy and comfortable and the vibe was energetic, cheerful and inviting I don't have a dog but i love that they have a doggy menu. What a cute idea. Okay, enough from me, just go here already! Try it all! I recommend this place to...

If you want a power tripping snippy server who also lies, then this is the place for you!

Three of us came in around 3:15PM after a wonderful summer work outing/party. We looked-up nearby places in the area that had a happy hour because we were looking for a small bite. We had been there many times when it was under previous ownership.

We first looked around the bar and wandered to the seating area that was empty except for one table. A man seemed uptight as we didn't see the "wait to be seated" sign and asked us how many in our party, it was obviously three and he said we could sit anywhere.

He then asked for our ID's. We said seriously? It was odd considering we are all in our 50s/60's. As we were showing our IDs he said something like are you coming from the Cruiseships? We said no Cruiseships aren't in town today, we came from a cool work outing. We then ordered drinks.

He came back for our food order but we didn't see any Happy Hour menue in the menue or on the table. We asked him about the happy hour menue and he said "we don't do Happy Hour here" I said that we saw it online. Then he backtracked and said "oh, I guess you can order off the online menue if you like". After he left, all three of us seriously thought about getting up and leaving right there and then.

When he came back to get our order, we were so frustrated, we all said "no thanks".

He soon came back and said he was leaving for the day so we asked for the bill. Our friend covered the bill. It was around $30 and she gave him a $100 bill. He asked if she wanted any change. How insulting! I said, "are you serious?". He said he was trying to be funny. I said "We didn't think that was funny".

He came back with a 50, 20 and a few 1's. If he wanted a tip, we thought he could have broken the 20. By this time, we had it with him! My friend said if we were going to be treated like old people, then we'll leave an old people tip and she left him a $1.25 tip.

After he picked up his tip, he sat at the booth behind us where someone was doing paperwork to count his tips. He made a big gesture putting his thumbs up way up in the air above the booth seats. He then hung around the place for another half of an hour milling around. Again, weird since he said he was leaving.

An absolute jerk the whole time! Maybe he's used to serving people who are only in town for the day so he gets away with being rude to everyone.

After he finially left. We ordered another round and food. We complained to our server about our previous experience but she didn't seem to be to concerned. It was awkward from then on as she came by our table 15 times. Not sure if she was tying to be anoying or just overcompensating.

My turn to pay and I left a 25% or more tip.

None of us will ever return and we will spread the word throughout our very large place of...

I feel bad to give 1 star because the staff was absolutely phenomenal. But I think you’ll see why 1 star is deserved.

Visiting from out of town before our Alaska cruise on June 17th. Got intel from a local that this was the place to go. Stopped in early afternoon for drink at the bar. Met the friendly bartender & learned about their famous gluten-free fried chicken sandwich and how careful they are when it comes to gluten-free customers. Decided we HAD to come back for dinner. SIDE NOTE: the person I was traveling with is deathly allergic to gluten (like anaphylactic shock type allergic)

Came back for dinner about 5:30, got the good gluten-free speech from our waiter & my travel companion ordered the gluten-free chicken sandwich & subbed the bun for a gluten free one. Food arrived quick & was hot! Very delicious to say the least.

About 4-5 minutes after devouring the chicken sandwich because it was so good, it hits. Full on allergic reaction. Turns out the kitchen staff wasn’t as good with gluten-free customers as they claimed and accidentally served a normal bun…..plump full of gluten. The reaction got so bad that the we had to use her Epi-Pen right there at the table before she went under & things went south fast.

Staff was more than willing to assist, checked in on us every few minutes, offered to call 911, and took care of our tab. Staff did a great job! Kitchen staff on the other side……

I’m all for gluten-free substitutes, but if you’re going to put it on your menu & mention it to patrons, you better be sure your practices are in order. Some people get an upset stomach from gluten, while others can die.

Willing to try again if we ever find our way up there again. Will just need to be more alert to what we are being served regardless of what...
