TLDR: amazing quality sushi, kind staff, and good prices (compared to other sushi places). Highly recommend checking this cute hole-in-the-wall spot out if you are craving takeout sushi.

5 pieces sushi w/ roll ($17.50): 10/10 - this comes with salmon, shrimp, tuna, izumidai (tilapia), and albacore nigiri. Each nigiri was delicious, the rice of each was nicely seasoned. The fish itself tastes fresh and not overly fishy. You can choose the roll it comes with and the roll I chose was salmon cucumber which was also very tasty. The rice to fish ratio was perfect. Because it is a take out only restaurant, they give you the ginger and wasabi on the side (which I love since I hate when you bite into your roll not knowing there is a huge piece of wasabi underneath) and they give in my opinion the best soy sauce. It’s nicely salty and umami (not like those bad packs you usually get with takeout sushi). This small detail really elevated the experience for me!

The staff working when I went were very helpful and kind. There was even a small waiting room so you didn’t have to wait in the cold. Will definitely be back and would 100% recommend...

Wow some of the best/freshest sushi I've had in a while. Staff are friendly, COVID practices are good, and wait time was about 15 minutes when I went for lunch

Food: Geisha roll (11.75): Salmon avocado with shrimp and Mayo, topped with eel and more avocado. This is a flavor combo I didn't know I needed but I'm so glad I got. I tried the eel and salmon separately as well and both were really high quality. The salmon was flavorful, buttery, fresh and not too fishy and they didn't skimp on the size of the salmon pieces!

Yellowtail nigiri (2.50): thick fresh piece of fish, so flavorful. Sushi rice was great quality and complimented the fish perfectly

Albacore nigiri (2.50): large and fresh as well

*side note: I really appreciated that the ginger and wasabi were provided in a separate cup since I don't like either and I hate when it's squeezed into the same box/transfers ginger flavor to half...

SUSHI MAKI IS THE BEST !!! i have been coming here since 2015, and it’s easily become my favorite sushi spot in all of seattle. min and jin, the owners, are absolute sweeties and put so much hard work into their business. their small takeout-only shop is cozy and welcoming with a friendly atmosphere, and even friendlier service. food is ready quick, and never compromises on quality, the sushi is extremely consistent and delicious. i like to order the salmon lover’s combo, with a side of avocado roll - i don’t trust the nigiri at most sushi places but the cut of fish is always perfect at sushi maki. i could not recommend this place enough, and always tell out-of-town friends to stop by if they’re in the capitol hill area. i love you...
