Ten months ago, I finally started listening to my father's advice. I had spent nearly three years working with a strength and conditioning coach at another gym in Seattle and was getting frustrated by a series of plateaus. My maxes were stagnant, I lost the ability to do unassisted pull-ups, and my half-marathon time declined. I wasn't inspired and I wasn't having fun.
One afternoon, over lunch with my dad, CrossFit came up and I was asked, "Why the hell haven't you started working out with Izzy yet?" I looked up, shrugged, and promised to go in that week. The first day I walked in, I was hooked. CrossFit Felix is Seattle's CrossFit paradise: lifting room, tons of WOD space, a mobility area, showers, and lounge area combine with the fact that the gym is open nearly all hours of the day to make for an unparalleled experience.
Nearly a year later, I can safely say that working out with Izzy and his team at CrossFit Felix was the smartest decision I have made in a very long time (thanks, Dad, for the advice). The coaches are phenomenal and the wods / max cycles are well-designed. Within three months of joining, I was hitting PRs in every benchmark workout and had gotten back to - and surpassed - my previous maxes in several lifts. My body composition has improved drastically. Above it all, I am having fun again. Izzy fosters a sense of community that isn't seen at a lot of gyms. New members, coaches, drop-ins, and neighbors are all welcomed to the gym each day with a level of enthusiasm that will wipe the Seattle freeze off anyone's face. CrossFit Felix is a really amazing place to call your home box or drop-in. Come hang out with us, you...
Read moreI’ve been a member at Felix CrossFit since August 2020, and I can honestly say it’s a true gem in Belltown. The coaches are engaging, knowledgeable, and make every workout both fun and challenging. The equipment is kept up-to-date (refreshed every year or two), and the space is always ready for a great session.
The owner is absolutely amazing—he’s got big golden retriever energy: welcoming, kind, and genuinely cares about everyone who walks through the doors. (If you stop by, make sure you say hi to Izzy for me!)
What really makes this place special is the community. I’ve built lasting friendships here, with people I see outside the gym regularly. That kind of connection is rare, and it’s why I’ve looked forward to showing up every morning for the past five years.
Sadly, I’m moving out of the city and can’t take Felix CrossFit with me—but if I could, I’d pack up the whole gym, members and all, and move it right next door. If you’re looking for a supportive, fun, and truly special gym community, this is it.
If I could give 10...
Read moredrops weights as early as 5:30am — they know they share walls with a residential building and have been contacted before (for years it seems), the constant banging is incredibly disruptive to daily life… especially sleep. i’m sure a compromise // solution could be found if all parties were willing.
response to reply from owner: please consider that not everyone can afford to live in suburbs where cars are required— so telling me and other tenants to leave if we can’t deal is not okay. the building you’re connected to is low income housing, near a lot of public transit. it doesn’t mean those occupying it should have to deal with consistent disruption — firetrucks are for emergencies and few and far between, nightlife goes unnoticed when windows are closed. i appreciate hearing there has been some change and talk overtime and would love to know what compromise has/can be asked of the residential building — i am not closed off to...
