My mom and I drove from the Valley up to Sedona for the day, and you know we’re always on the hunt for some ice cream! We hit this place up around 12:30 on a Monday, and noticed upon entering that they opened right at noon throughout the week, so obviously, we were the only ones there lol. The store itself was bright, clean, and all the menus/writing was on a chalkboard (you know it’s good when the menus are hand-written).
A friendly gentleman was working and let us know if we wanted to try any samples. I saw the pumpkin chai flavor and instantly knew I had to get it. They had a decent variety of flavors, but nothing really stood out to me other than trying one of their seasonal flavors. They also had apple pie, which my mom ordered. We both ordered one scoop of each in a cup since it was already pretty expensive for a single scoop.
The ice cream itself was super creamy, and almost a little gummy, making it kind of difficult to scoop up easily, but I didn’t mind it. I’m not picky when it comes to ice cream (as long as it’s not icy). The pumpkin spice really shone through in the pumpkin chai. My mother also really enjoyed the apple pie. The vanilla ice cream itself had a creamy texture and she especially appreciated the potent cinnamon flavor it had. It also had nice pie chunks throughout!
Economically, it was a better deal to go with the double scoop since it’s only about $2 more than a single scoop. The more you know.

Read moreWe visited Rocky Road Ice Cream while staying near Black Stap, and it turned out to be such a great little find. It’s a small, family-owned ice cream shop that really has that classic mom-and-pop feel — even the smell inside reminded me of a traditional ice cream parlor.
They had four flavors available when we went, and while we went for non-dairy options, I can only imagine their dairy versions are just as delicious. The best part is that you get to sample flavors before you order, which not every place allows, and it really makes the experience more fun.
The service was outstanding. Our order was made a little smaller than expected, and when we mentioned it, the young man behind the counter went above and beyond to fix it, even giving us a little extra as a courtesy. Both people working were kind, supportive, and made us feel welcome.
The shop is tucked into a little plaza right off Main Street in Black Stap, and we saw a steady stream of customers coming in and out, which says a lot.
Highly, highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area. Great ice cream, wonderful service, and a true...
Read moreIts just ok ice cream. Literally just ok. And I love ice crean. The 5 kinds we got were melting and bland! 5 people got ice cream (1 kids cup which is tiny, 3 reg double scoops, and a single scoop) for $32... a little pricey but meh ok. However, what made this place COOL: the VIEW is gorgeous so you eat your bland ice cream outside and wish you lived near enough to drive by this place daily. What made this place UNCOOL: The teens working here were hurrying through a crowd but their approach to my Nieces and nephew made them ALL uncomfortable so the kids picked ice cream they didnt really like because they felt like "they were going to get im trouble if they didnt hurry"? That was super uncool but again the view of the canyon is pretty so if you stop for ice cream you can get a good picture... That we didnt happen to get to take because the kids were disappointed in the ice cream and wanted to leave lol. Oh well.. Tourists from Phoenix we are but new Sedona we are not and the kids love Sedona but didnt really...
