My wife and I stayed at Live! on Saturday 6/17 with a large group of friends. My wife text me at 7:13 PM that she was at the bar at 8 at Luk Fu while I was playing cards and I responded that I would go meet her. She was having sushi and had a bottle of Saki when I arrived and there was a menu on the bar next to her that I was looked at to see if it had options for dumplings. The female bartender (younger, nice looking, probably about 5'6" dark hair, petite, and red dress) was waiting on my wife, a gentleman to her left and waiting on 1 table with a group of women. I waited patiently for her as we had made direct eye contact, and she clearly saw me looking at a menu with no drink or beverage napkin in front of me. After about 6 minutes she had not even stopped by to say hello, I asked my wife if she was waiting on her, to which she replied yes. After about 8 minutes, a male manager in a suit came out and spoke to the bartender and I thought maybe he would say hello but did not. After 10 minutes, I told my wife I was going back to the casino floor and going to order ToGo food from Orchid. My wife met me at Orchid about 10 minutes later and told me that not long after I left the bar at LukFu, the bartender came to her very politely and asked her if there was anything else she needed, to which she replied no, paid her check and left. My wife is white, and I am a black male, and she told me that it was the first time in 17 years of our marriage that she had witnessed a racially charged incident that we both felt was directed to me. My wife also told me that before I came to meet her at the bar, that another black gentleman ordered a lychee from the same bartender and after about 8 minutes of patiently waiting left as it was never prepared. The same bartender had no problem continuing the Asian gentleman who was eating at the bar directly on the other left side of my wife while not acknowledge me on her right side. Being black and 42, I've experienced racial discrimination in the past and know what it looks and feels like, and this was it. Great job living up to the stereotype, in Baltimore of all places. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, but I...
Read moreThis place was awful, my friend and I just got out of a concert and we hang out for a bit at the casino as we walk past the sushi place it smell so good so we got hungry mind you it was around 11 something pm. we decided to sat at the bar there was a few people on the tables but ony one guy sitting at the bar. We sat about 7 minutes past before we got greeted... then we got menus right in front on us another 10 minutes past before we got offer some water. We sat at the end were the food was coming out so as hungry as we were everything looked good we asked the server for what was that, that that they just served ans she was not sure. Then we asked for a picture on the menu neither of the two bartender knew what it was it was like a guessing name. By looking at the picture and reading the menu my friend and I finally figure out what it was for $18 those girls should of have known the price specially if it is one of the items picture on the menu must people asked if the name is not right next to the picture. So we order 3 things from the menu. after waiting for a while for our sushi the server come out and said that her manager said that since they were so busy the Singapore noodles that we order they were going to take a minute so my friend and I looked at each other and were like so whats the problem we have been waiting longer than a minute for the sushi already and she was like no it just mean that is going to take a long time. I say then just take it of the check I no longer wanted we were already really aggravated with the bad service we were getting we just wanted to leave, we did not felt welcome there. Finally the two rolls come out mine was ok a bit salty because of the tuna, but my friend one was extremely salty obviously because she only order tuna. They probably do that to get people to buy more drinks. While I was there the bartenders were talking to each other my glass of water was empty I had to asked for a refill twice and they could see that my glass was empty they did not offer us any napkins we had to use the wet ones from under our glass of water. We still tip...
Read moreI've become weary about ordering beef at Asian restaurants lately bc i fear that it will be flavorless and tough, but i wanted to give it a try since it was a more expensive restaurant. I originally started with the volcano roll... and was debating between the Korean short rib, bulgogi and pad thai chicken or beef. When the volcano roll arrived and looked amazing, i immediately ordered the pad Thai. The volcano roll was amazing! Idk what they did to the outside of the roll, but it was crisp and perfectly whatever it was that it was... i didn't want it to end and almost ordered another. But then the pad Thai came... i was so far from being disappointed!!! There seemed to be an endless load of beef, it kept on coming right to the very end. Luscious, juicy, soft chunks kept appearing from under the noodles that were also stuffed with a generous helping of egg, which immediately scored 110% with me. And the beef... exactly what i was hoping to taste and feel... perfectly tender and melted in my mouth! All in all, it was an amazing combination of flavor and texture and everything was fresh! I'm taking my Ma with me next time, she would definitely appreciate this! So, i returned with Mom and was not disappointed again! Got another volcano roll and tried the Kalbi (Korean short ribs). Absolutely tender and delicious once again! Mom got the Mongolian beef and it was also tender and delicious! This is going to become a regular spot for me... i...
