We just recently moved to the area, and as Asians we naturally craved for some authentic Chinese food once in awhile. We were elated to learn China Town Restaurant was nearby so off we went. When we first got there, the waiter (who was wearing a casual Tee shirt) shown no emotion when he saw us and he just told us to sit down on our own. We knew that this was a "good" sign as most Chinese restaurants (that serve authentic Chinese food) usually have pretty BAD customer service. Going through the menu, the prices were reasonable though we were surprised that they did not have the dish which we had found on Google Review, even when showing him the photo in someone's review, his answer was a simple, "No".
Unfortunately, when our food arrived, my wife and I were beyond shocked. All three dishes had the EXACT same sauce and 80% of the ingredient were EXACTLY the same. They sprinkled some chicken on the first one, pork in the next one and shrimp on the third one and now there were three plates of food! We tasted it and it was just not very pleasant nor enjoyable.
I was honestly planning on taking co-workers and maybe my boss to try out some 'authentic" Chinese food and now I know this will not happen, or at least it won't be at this China Town Restaurant. I will be SO embarrassed if they even see the presentation of the food, let alone tasting it.
To the owner of China Town Restaurant:
I am sorry China Town Restaurant (Mr. Mo Wang), but you really disappointed our family today as we were really looking forward to have some authentic Chinese food. Unfortunately, we honestly didn't know who in the right mind would cook "Chinese" food like the way you did, and to assume that people would come back for more!
You made close to $50 off me today but I am sorry that you will not have my future business whatsoever. I didn't mind that you treated us with no customer service nor shown us any friendly smile (nor much eye contact). But to put such little thought in what you were making and calling it Chinese Food was a disgrace. The food you make in your restaurant represents not only who you are, but your culture. It's a big responsibility, it's not always about cutting corners and maximizing your profit.
Maybe you will be able to continue to fool the American customers to believe what you are making is Chinese Food, and I feel bad for them because some of them don't know better! Having said all this, you and I both know that you will have the EXACT same frustration as me, if someone else should cook your food the same way you did mine when you go to their Chinese restaurant.
You can do much better than...
Read moreWe travel all over the country in a motor coach and this was average to below average Chinese food. First the good...they have a website where you can order online. Great! When I got to restaurant I waited a little bit that was ok cause I knew I was early. Looking around the place as I waited it was an average Chinese place. Nothing fancy. Probably do most of their business as take out. They do have a drive up window for you to pick up your food. So that's nice. Now the bad...Gentleman that brought my order out showed me the receipt attached to bag and said he checked everything and everything was in there. I'm sorry I took his word for it. When I got home I noticed that we got a wrong item in our bag. The one thing my husband wanted to get was their "Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce" which said it was a hunan sauce. What we got was Kung Pao Chicken. It was chicken pieces in a brown sauce with peanuts. Not a hot pepper sauce. I called the restaurant and the guy said yes, that was the chicken in hot pepper sauce. I said no, it's clearly Kung Pao chicken. It has peanuts and is a brown sauce. Clearly not a spicy sauce. Guy argued with me. Not a good impression. All the other food was just ok. Nothing special.
So...after going back to the menu online the Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce is the same number and exact same description as Kung Pao Chicken! So...that was messed up! Also...the Kung Pao Chicken does not mention peanuts. This day and age with people's allergies to nuts, it is vital for a restaurant to list this.
We will not be back to this restaurant and will not recommend...
Read moreLet me preface this rating by saying we've eaten here for 30 +/- years.
Service cannot be beat anywhere... Felix is by far the best waiter we've ever seen. He is extremely prompt to everyone in the restaurant and recalls his customers and their orders. Very friendly. The best part of the food is the egg rolls...best I've had!
However, over the past couple of years, though still good, the food quality has dropped since Annie (former owner/ manager/daily worker) has stopped being a part of the restaurant. The wonton soup is always cloudy as though it's been sitting awhile. The egg drop soup isn't as good. The General Tso is not as spicy and the meat is sometimes a little fatty. The sweet and sour chicken has less vegetables now and they're not cooked as tender as they used to be. The dinner special used to have all of our dinners on the menu but now we have to order everything a la carte and our cost is a little more. When we bring one of our little ones and share we now have to pay a sharing fee which didn't used to be a part of the ticket. It's as though the new owner (very nice guy... gets to know his customers and jokes with everyone) is more about the dollar than Annie ever was.
Please note, that this is still a great place to go as we still do... its just that we miss Annie and the way things ran with her and Felix. Food was great...
