My experience at Robeks in Shelton, CT, was not just disappointing—it was dangerous. I ordered a fruit smoothie, expecting a refreshing treat, but instead, it led to a severe allergic reaction that sent me to the emergency room. What should have been a simple indulgence turned into a $4,000 ordeal.
I am careful about what I eat and drink, so this reaction caught me completely off guard. While I cannot definitively say what caused it, I did notice the staff's cleaning practices left much to be desired. As I waited for my order, I saw surfaces being wiped hastily, with no apparent attention to cross-contamination. It makes me wonder if this lack of care contributed to my reaction.
The smoothie itself tasted fine, but that hardly matters when the aftermath involves a hospital visit. Given the severity of this incident, I cannot recommend this location to anyone, especially those with dietary sensitivities or allergies.
The experience has left me shaken and wary of dining here again. Robeks needs to prioritize cleanliness and food safety if they hope to rebuild trust with customers. For now, I’ll be steering clear—and I suggest others...
Read moreI have always really enjoyed Robeks, since they opened I have been a very frequent customer. The chunks left in the smoothies never bothered me lol. I thought it was great that they started offering free delivery during this time (like most other restaurants). Unfortunately this only lasted about a week which is fine, it’s not something I expect obviously. What disappointed me is that they started charging $1.99 for delivery through doordash when all orders over $10 on doordash are free, then a week later they raised it to $4.99 with a 20 dollar minimum. I don’t understand, if doordash is doing free delivery on orders over $10 then why am I paying $4.99 delivery fee plus tip on my 25 dollar order.... the delivery goes through doordash after all. We are all trying to stay safe during this time while also supporting businesses, why make it so difficult and expensive for customers to order? They also never offered no contact delivery as an option. This, combined with their lack of consistency is why I won’t be ordering any longer. There are much smaller businesses that are making a better effort to have reasonable and...
Read moreI have to say I do not like one very big an important thing about your smoothies. The thing I am talking about is how they END. They are SO DAMN GOOD. I WISH they could just automatically refill with whatever flavor you want until you're fully satisfied, which you will be with the flavor, texture, ingredients, and quality. This location is my new favorite stop before work (or any time really), I can't wait for the day everyone knows me by name like they had at Dunkin. lol. YOU WILL LOVE ROBEKS SO JUST GO THERE ALREADY AND STOP READING HOW GREAT THEY ARE!!
also, rated/commented on facebook. wanted to make sure people read this because of its importance; texture, ingredients, quality is too important not to...
