Very disappointed in our recent visit. We always search up business hours before going but being night time workers we have no choice but to go in restaurants in the last hour. Whoever the host was on 06/01/2024 @10:20pm really isn’t the best choice to be the server for customers coming in. We get there at 10:22. Only wanting to order 2 entrees because of the time, we ask to sit in and immediately she keeps repeating we close in 30 minutes and really really gave us the impression she didn’t want to sit us in. Made a face and made us feel forced to order what we wanted to go. Of course she looked happy to put away the menus once we didn’t feel comfortable wanting to sit in anymore by the way she made us feel. But what gets me is she says how the food should be out in 10 mins. So if our food can come out in just 10 mins why can’t we sit in ? We know you close in 40 something minutes so it’ll be just 10:35ish when our food comes out and we have way enough time to eat our meals before getting out by 11. THIS is the kicker here. At 10:36pm a group of TEN walks in. The same waiter sits them down at a table INFRONT of us. While this happened a lady had to come out and verify kitchen closes at 11pm. The group called in advance to eat in late too. But this same waiter tried to tell the group the same thing she told us which is we close soon and it’s like we didn’t ask what time you close. We want to grab a quick dinner and give our business to you, El torito. How dare you? How dare you sit them and treat me and my husband that way, just two people ? Then of course after driving home with the food it’s not even what i asked for and my husband food was not cooked well done. He ordered steak which was pink in the inside and I asked for white rice and they gave me yellow rice with veggies in it. Your hostess is not welcoming and prevents anyone from practically sitting in once it’s 10 which is hurting your business, the food wasn’t cooked the way we asked because clearly ordering food to go we had specific requests and then after being forced to order to go you guys sit a table of 10 in our faces. I Asked for the jalapeño grapefruit margarita after she questioned my initial choice of the smoke and fire margarita. I Asked to substitute mango purée for the grapefruit and she tells me they don’t have mango. I point out that many other margaritas have mango purée and then she says she’ll see “if they can do it” We ordered 2 appetizers, the Queso fundido, and elote loco (corn). My husband asked if they could cut the corn in half seeing there are 2 of us, and she promptly told us NO! If we do it, everyone will. Well it’s an appetizer, which are meant to be shared. Never have I gotten a elote loco that wasn’t cut in half. And the refusal to cut it for easier eating was ridiculous. We ordered 2 appetizers for 2 people, I just asked to cut the corn in half. But they would not accommodate us. The food was bland and uninspired. And to top it off she added 18% gratuity. I was going to leave her $20.00 but she took it upon herself to add the tip which came out to $14.00. Her loss. I’ve been in the industry for 20 years and never have I been treated so poorly. Read moreAvoid at all costs. Truly a terrible experience. First of all the food is bad. The pork dish I ordered was flavorless, dry and tough. The margarita had a couple of melted cubes of ice in it and was terrible. They're trying to pass off second rate food as authentic Mexican. Second, we had 2 parties at our table and the wait staff said we couldn't split our check unless we had told them prior to sitting down. This was a lie and when we asked where it says we need to tell the waitress that, she said she would check with her manager and finally agreed to split into 2 checks. I assumed they didn't want to take the extra effort of ringing up separate checks. I also wanted to try the place because I received a $20 off coupon from Valpak which clearly they participate in. I showed them the coupon on my phone and they said they wouldn't honor it because it's not printed out. Nowhere on the digital coupon does it say you need to print it out to redeem. We asked for the manager and he reiterated that you need to print out the coupon. I asked him where it says this on the digital coupon and he agreed it doesn't, so I asked if that's my fault and he said no and still didn't honor it.
