Art Of Gelato — Restaurant in South Lake Tahoe

We have always had a good customer service experience going to this place for Gelato every time we visited Lake Tahoe. However, my last visit on 10/20/2020 @2: 06 PM was perhaps the WORSE customer service I have experienced in a very long time. We stayed at Marriott's Timber Lodge and took my daughters, ages 2 and 3 to the small beach right-across and hyped them up for ice-cream after the beach. As we entered the store the girl who was the only person working greeted us in a very loud and rude manner. While we were trying to place our orders for Gelato she was giving us an attitude, and rudely asked "is there anything you would like to order?" So, we immediately placed our orders with her and asked for an extra cup for my youngest daughter (2-year-old), again her reaction was even worse this time "ughhhhhhhhh, slammed the cup, here you go" and picked up her phone and open her social media. After we finished our gelato, I went back into the store to share my experience with her, and that we have always enjoyed coming here for gelato. However, this time we felt unwelcome. Ohhhh Geeee, what a mistake on my part for trying to be kind. I visited this gelato shop with my family for an evening treat, and our experience was disappointing. The young blonde lady at the counter didn’t seem happy to be working, which set a negative tone. After getting our gelatos and sitting outside, I found a short black hair in mine halfway through. When I went in to inform them, their response was simply, “Do you want another one?” Of course, I said NO and asked for a credit instead. Art of Gelato is an absolute gem! The staff were incredibly kind and made me feel so welcome. The gelato was absolutely delicious—smooth, rich, and full of flavor. My favorites were the coconut (yes, I got coconut and more coconut!) and the chocolate. The coconut was creamy and refreshing, while the chocolate was perfectly indulgent and satisfying. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Highly recommend stopping by if you're nearby—I’ll definitely be back for more!
