Taquitos locos — Restaurant in South Padre Island

If I could give this place a ZERO star rating, I honestly would. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place at all food is too expensive for the size & I’ve seen a lot of better taco places with better quality taste. The charro beans were absolutely DISGUSTING!!!! Smelled like they were going bad had an AWFUL smell. I know what real Mexican charro beans are supposed to taste like and these were NOT IT. The waitress that served our table gave us HORRIBLE SERVICE did not check in on us at all maybe once or twice the max. She never smiled or anything & kept a bitter stank face. She for sure DID NOT DESERVE THE 20% (26.00) tip that was added for the gratuity. SO MUCH FOR A FIRST IMPRESSION ON THE SERVICE & QUALITY OF THE FOOD. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER EAT HERE. THE WOST MEXICAN RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO I CANT STRESS IT ENOUGH…they charged us $177.17 for 8 PEOPLE this bill would be understandable for Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Chili’s, cheddars & other expensive restaurants. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at this restaurant was disappointing enough that I felt it needed to be shared.

From the moment we were seated, our waitress had a noticeably bad attitude. She seemed irritated when we asked simple questions and made visible faces throughout our time there, which made us feel very unwelcome.

To make matters worse, items were added to our tab that we didn’t order, and when we brought it to her attention, she was dismissive and unhelpful. On top of that, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill — even though we were a party of only four people. Their posted policy clearly states that automatic gratuity applies only to parties of six or more.

Overall, the service was unprofessional and uncomfortable, and we left feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. I hope management addresses these issues so that future guests can have a...

This review makes me sad. I really wanted to like this place and support local. My husband and I orders taquitos de bistek and pastor as well as chips, salsa, and guacamole and two aquas frescas. The aguas frescas were ok. Next came the chips, salsa, and guacamole. Chips: Delish. Salsa: tasted like pace picante. Guacamole: smashed avocado topped with onion and rotten cilantro - brown bits. No seasoning either. I had to pick off the rotten cilantro before I tasted it. Next the tacos. No flavor. Tasted a weird kind of sour, unnatural. Tortillas were just soaked in oil. Same rotting cilantro. My husband said the cheese on his tacos didn’t taste right. The grilled onions didn’t even taste like anything. We paid and left after eating one taco each.
