Skip. Crab legs were old and crusty looking swimming in murky water. All the food was crusted over. Instead of switching out nasty items they just let it sit there. I would have pictures of it but they only let us eat for 30 mins. You have to wait in a long line for hours instead of a proper reservation system. Why does it say to make a reservation online when you actually can’t? Instead of taking your name and like texting you like a normal restaurant would when your table was ready, someone has to wait in a miserable line.
The check in lady was not very nice and acted like she was doing us a favor. I hate to call someone out directly but I’ve worked in restaurants for 20 years. It’s obvious Palms is trying to show itself as a guest forward place where anyone feels comfortable. That line was a miserable experience.
It’s not like Palace Station oyster bar where the wait is worth it. It’s not. It’s not worth the price. It’s not worth the fact we got free comps by spending a lot of money gambling. If someone offered me a free comps there for brunch without needing to do anything, I’d probably say no.
After waiting for a couple hours we could only get in at 2pm! Right when they close. We had 30 mins to get food and 15 mins to hang out and digest and enjoy said food and then the manager came through the restaurant telling us we had 5 mins and then saying we had to leave. She was super duper nice about it, but it’s not a good feeling nor look. We couldn’t even finish our food and they wouldn’t let us take our drink out. It was a mimosa in a cheap flute. Like what’s the issue? I took out my Bloody Mary from Palace Station when we ate at their diner.
The waitress we had Tina I think. White woman. Was soooo nice and lovely and she worked her butt off with a smile. She’s a keeper! Give her a raise!
The chefs looked miserable though. I get it. Not their dream job. But the vibes were all off. I am shocked Las Vegas Register called this place best buffet and USA Today put them on a best buffet list.
There was no rhyme or reason to the food sections. Not very many options. And most of the options looked horrible. Like seriously 90% of the food, I was like I’m not gonna eat this crap. And I’m not a picky eater. I once ate a day old burger and fries combo left outside by DoorDash by mistake and then got food poisoning. My go to is fancy ramen.
At least drinks are included. Wait staff and front of house staff work hard. Be sure and tip 20%. It’s not their fault. This is an upper management and owner thing.
Tim Ho Wan is excellent at Palms and we ate there the night before when we couldn’t get in for Dinner Buffet we came at 730pm and they said they couldn’t get us in until 845pm and we had 30 mins to eat. Is this like their scam or something? So we went to Tim Ho Wan and everything was right there. Food, staff, decor and vibes. Had a great time and not pricey for vegas. So I had high expectations for the buffet.
Some positives if you’re still reading are the carving meat station was very good. Pre-cooked steaks to med or med/well were surprisingly good. So was the pork loin they carve for you. The carving guy was super nice. Had a nice chimichurri also.
There was no sushi. Hardly any Asian food when 50% of their clientele is Asian. No pasta station. Or breakfast foods that you’d want to try. Like a nice granola or something? Nope. They had deconstructed eggs Benedict in a little single serving cup that looked nasty. Like mixing up a bunch of leftovers and scooping it into a cup. They had a sad piece of soft tofu in a plastic cup with some sweet thai chili sauce. Also looked nasty. Shouldn’t food be visibly pleasing?
The sad part is I have 4 more comps so I’ll be back regardless lol. Definitely don’t go out of your way to come here. Unless you really really want crab legs or lobster. Which I did and I still feel this way. I think if you have to eat there def go to Tim Ho...
Read moreOn the 7th of March 2024, my family and I visited AYCE Buffet to indulge in their renowned Lobster buffet. However, we were informed upon arrival that reservations were mandatory to enjoy the Lobster buffet. Despite this inconvenience, the female personnel at the counter provided us with a detailed explanation and kindly requested our patience until an available table was freed up by a no-show reservation. We agreed to wait and were assured we would be seated as replacements. After approximately 20 minutes, we were informed by a lady named "Stephanie" that a reservation had not been honored and we could be seated immediately.
The reception staff at AYCE Buffet were all amicable and cordial, leaving us with a positive impression. We were pleased with the warm welcome we received. However, once we were seated and assigned to a female server named Isabel, we observed that she lacked enthusiasm for serving customers. We had to wait for napkins to be brought over, and we were not provided with an adequate amount of napkins, particularly given that we had to use our hands to eat the delicious lobster and crab legs. This was not an ideal experience. Furthermore, we were not given any crab legs cracker tools, which made it challenging to enjoy our food to the fullest.
Another issue arose in the "World Pan" area where we encountered a male Hispanic attendant who was impolite when speaking with customers lining up for the lobsters and crab legs. The attendant lacked the required skills and proper approach, especially considering our first time there. When I requested two lobsters, he responded rudely by pointing to a sign as though I was a child who did not understand English. The attendant treated all other Asians in the same manner, assuming that they did not speak or understand English, which was highly insulting and disrespectful. It was disappointing to note that both the Hispanic male attendant and the younger Asian male attendant did not have name tags.
As patrons, we not only expect quality food and customer service but also a respectful dining experience from the employees, regardless of our ethnic background. Isabel, the server, could have displayed more enthusiasm in her service rather than just being present to collect tips from customers. Napkins should not be limited, and we suggest that AYCE Buffet provide customers with crab legs cracker tools to enhance their dining experience. We hope that AYCE Buffet's management will take the necessary steps to address these issues and ensure that all customers receive the best possible dining experience. Staff should be trained to treat customers with respect, and all employees should be required to wear name tags to avoid confusion. We believe that with these changes, AYCE Buffet can continue to provide a memorable dining experience for all...
Read moreIt’s probably one of the most affordable buffets in big hotel resorts, but I still feel not worth the money….
Food selection and quality were both a bit disappointing … My family came on Saturday night, not a featured day. So I understood that there would be no special menu at all, no crab legs, no lobster…. But, the selection was way to simple! For main meat courses, only one chicken dish, four seafood( two shrimp, two fish), the roastery only had one beef and one sausage. The other beef dish was in the smoke section. I might not be accurate on the numbers of these dishes, but should be very close to the reality. I didn’t count shredded meat dishes, though, such as salad, dim sum, pizza, etc.
It seemed to provide many dishes, but actually, besides the items I mentioned above, the rest were relatively common side items, such as hummus, salads, fruit, etc.
I really have to say that the shrimp dim sum tasted very similar to the frozen packed ones I bought from the supermarket. Fried tofu was wrapped by inappropriate frying powder, so it’s hard and a little bit chewy…. Even corn on the cob, very common dish, tasted like the corn were dried and not not fresh…
Cashiers were very inefficient! We arrived 10 mins before 5 pm, and there were not many people in front of us. We got seated around 17:25. I looked around our table, there were still many empty seats…I don’t know if that’s the way to manage the capacity in the restaurant, though…
There is a time limitation of 1.5 hour for dinner, but the waiting for roastery was usually about 10-15 mins… There was always a long queue waiting to be served in the raostery, probably because that’s the only dishes looked big enough for the price….
They had a “make your own pasta section”, and the pasta tasted fresh. This was one of the highlights, but it’s carbohydrate, not protein…
Ice cream selection looked good and tasted good. There was someone serving the ice cream, no waffle cones, only small cups, which holds about one scoop…. The frozen yogurt was very good, small cone waffles were available~
Dessert selection was fair, but the items were very common. The high light was crème brûlée, but we were told it’s not served everyday. So, we were kind of in good luck to have it. It tasted just ok, though.
Free parking was a plus.
Waiters and Waitresses were very nice, they took care of used plates very efficiently.
In general, it’s not difficult to find another buffet serving these general basic dishes with more...
