Tim Ho Wan, the famed Dim Sum Specialist hailing from Hong Kong and renowned as the world's most inexpensive Michelin-starred restaurant, has found its distinguished home in the Palms casino. From the moment I entered the hallowed halls of Tim Ho Wan, the promise of an exceptional dining experience hung in the air. I was ensnared in an atmosphere of grandeur and elegance. The Michelin-starred reputation of the restaurant preceded it, and I was eager to put it to the test. I embarked on a gastronomic journey, determined to taste the full breadth of Tim Ho Wan's extensive dim sum offerings and put its credibility to the test.
My ambitious order spanned the breadth of Tim Ho Wan's extensive menu. The Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow) arrived as delicate parcels of culinary perfection, showcasing the expertise in crafting translucent wrappers that cradled succulent shrimp. Each bite was a revelation, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that defines Michelin-starred dining.
The Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Tim Ho Wan's signature dish, arrived as a golden parcel of delight. The flaky exterior revealed a sweet and savory filling of barbecue pork, a harmonious marriage of textures and tastes. The dish was a work of culinary genius, a true masterpiece that justified the restaurant's Michelin-starred status.
The Steamed Pork Dumplings with Shrimp (Siu Mai) was another example of the culinary prowess that earned Tim Ho Wan its Michelin star. Each dumpling was a work of art, with the perfect balance of pork, shrimp, and delicate wrapper, creating a bite that was nothing short of sublime, where simplicity and sophistication coalesce.
The Braised Chicken Feet With Abalone Sauce And Peanuts was a bold choice, but Tim Ho Wan rose to the challenge with a dish that showcased their ability to transform humble ingredients into a delicacy. The abalone sauce and peanuts elevated the chicken feet to a level of sophistication that left a lasting impression.
To complement the grand feast, I opted for hot jasmine tea, which added a soothing interlude between the diverse array of dim sum delights. The tea was served with grace and expertise.

Read moreOne of the better Tim Ho Wan's -- definitely better than the one in NYC and other places I've been. I was pleasantly surprised.
You may not know this but Tim Ho Wan is known as the world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant. Here are some of the most recommended dishes to order when you visit THW:
Baked BBQ Pork Buns: Unlike the traditional steamed pork buns, these have a crumbly and sweet crust on the outside, and they are a must-try. The savory and slightly sweet barbecue pork filling contrasts wonderfully with the crispy exterior.
Har Gow (Steamed Shrimp Dumplings): These translucent dumplings are a dim sum staple. The wrapper is thin and delicate, revealing the fresh and juicy shrimp inside.
Siu Mai (Steamed Pork Dumplings with Shrimp): A delightful combination of minced pork, shrimp, and occasionally mushroom, all encased in a thin, yellow wrapper.
Pan Fried Turnip Cake: Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these cakes are made from shredded radish and rice flour and often contain bits of dried shrimp and sausage.
Vermicelli Roll with Pig’s Liver: A unique twist on the usual shrimp or pork-filled rice rolls, this one's a bit of an acquired taste but is celebrated by many.
Steamed Egg Cake: A sweet dish, it's soft, fluffy, and has a rich brown sugar flavor.
Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake: A jelly-like dessert that's refreshing and not overly sweet, perfect for cleansing the palate after a range of savory dim sum.
While these are some of the most celebrated dishes, it's always a good idea to ask for the day's specials or any new items on the menu, as there could be delightful seasonal offerings or innovative...
Read moreThe food and service was really good. Unfortunately, there's a casino attached and with that comes casino people. I enjoyed the food and the service, my only problem was that I was hustled by a casino patron. She was a little old lady who told me she was going to treat me to lunch. She said she had plenty of comps and showed her gold card. She told me she just wanted company because she's always by herself. She found me in line asking about my own food comp. I had 40 dollars left from mine and wanted to ask the players club where I can use it. This lady found me in line and began asking questions. I didn't see any harm in asking her since she was a high tier player. She told me not to worry because she'll take me to Tim Ho Wan and treat me. We sat down and she began ordering about 70 dollars worth of food plus tea. I got an uneasy feeling almost right away because she was very rude to the servers. And she kept bothering the people sitting next to us and their baby. Repeatedly saying how chubby the baby was. It was awkward but since she was treating me, I didn't think it was a big enough problem to pay attention to. Well, I THOUGHT she was treating me. Halfway through the meal, she began asking me to use my comp. I had 40 bucks plus 20 more from points. It was very embarrassing and annoying when she checked with the server and she had zero in comps. She was able to badger her host to cover the rest but it was not a good way to end the meal. I'm quite sure she's been there before so she absolutely knew what she was doing. In fact, I don't know why I got the feeling she was actually an employee or closely...
