First time here , December 19 , for dinner. What a great night. I've been coming to the Palms for years and never dined here. The atmosphere is classy and a mix of modern and classic old steakhouse. The service is great , Joseph S. was my server and he was really on top of things. I started with the best Old Fashioned I've ever had and followed by a great steak and sides.
HIGH WEST OLD FASHIONED $18 HIGH WEST DOUBLE RYE , HIGH WEST PRAIRIE BLEND, DEMERARA, ANGOSTURA BITTERS, ORANGE PEEL
16 oz BONE-IN FILET MIGNON $89 CREEKSTONE FARMS | KANSAS
BORDELAISE SAUCE $5 DRY RED WINE , BONE MARROW , BUTTER , SHALLOTS AND SAUCE DEMIGLACE
WAGYU FRIED RICE $23 JAPANESE BEEF I TALLOW I FARM EGG
GARLIC POTATO PURÉE $12 CRISPY SHALLOT
ALSO INCLUDED A FRENCH BREAD AND TRUFFLE CHIPS AS A STARTER
Everything was so good. Lots of people talk about the Golden Steer , but this place blows it away. I went there years ago with my son for my birthday and he said " Dad you cook a better steak at home ! " Needless to say we never went back. It was so bland and overpriced. I can't complain about anything I had here except I wish the egg on the Wagyu Fried Rice was more runny to blend with the rice better.
So on to the food , the steak was seasoned just enough and with the Bordelaise Sauce to dip it a little it was delicious. The Wagyu Fried Rice tasted a little nutty with the mushrooms in it which I normally don't like mushrooms , but they went perfectly with the dish and the Japanese Beef was sooo good in it ! I wasn't going to get the Garlic Potato Puree , but I read so many good reviews I had to try it and man was it good. I usually want a baked potato with a steak , but this was really good. The French Bread they start you with is round and has 4 pieces and seasoned with butter and they give you some on the side. It was warm and tasty. The Truffle Chips were okay , I'm not a big truffle guy , but they were freshly made and crispy. They did pair well with the Old Fashioned as well as the French Bread.
I was too stuffed for a dessert , but the table next to me had a birthday and they brought out the
FIREBALL SMORES $19 WARM CHOCOL ATE CAKE | G R AHAM CR ACKER ICE CRE AM TOASTED MARSHMALLOW
which was pretty cool to watch and of course the husband was videoed it. All in all I would highly recommend you coming here for a special occasion or to treat yourself to a great meal. They also do a SOCIAL HOUR , Mon - Thurs 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a Limited Discount Menu. So if you want to save a couple dollars and give them a try , this is a great way to do so. I will definitely be back and may just pop in some time for another one of those High West...
Read moreScotch 80 has become one of my favorite Steak Houses in all of Las Vegas. From the moment you approach the host stand you will know that you are about to walk in somewhere special. Once inside you will immediately notice the wine cellar encased in a glass room. The restraunt has an amazing bar that is stocked with some of the finest liqors. They have two dining areas, one in front of the bar, and another behind. Both areas are lovely, but I would prefer the rear if you are looking for a darker more intimate setting. The staff has always been first class, and pay attention to details. One little thing that I love is that they will bring a small stool table side for the ladies purses, so the purses are not on table or floor. The hard part about dining here is the decisions of food that must be made. Everything I have ever tried has been exceptional. The staff will bring out a fresh baked Japanese milk bread with soft butter while you look over the menu. Starting off is the cocktails, and their cocktail menu is phenomenal. There are multiple old fasioned cocktails. I have tried them all, and can not decide which is my favorite. For an appetizer I highly recommend the Brie Fondue with onion bacon jam. The fondue is served with toasted baguettes, and we normally share this among 4 people. This fondue is so good that sometimes we will go to the bar, and just order that with a couple of cocktails. For a starter I am addicted the the Wedge salad. Me and my wife ask for them to split it, and they plate it separately with full presentation on both. The salad seems so basic in a comfortable way, but has some unique flavors that make it stand out. Scotch 80 has an amazing selection of steaks including Japanese wagyu. I am always torn between the Cap of Rib Eye or the New York Strip. You can not go wrong with either. Our favorite sides that we get almost everytime are the Garlic Potatoe Purée with toasted shallot, and the Jalepeno cream corn. The corn is roasted, has bacon bits, and the perfect amout of jalapeño so its not overly spicy. The sides are definitely a sharable size. We will usually order three sides for four people, and that is plenty. In the past I have tried the Butterscotch Cerme Brulee, and it's delightful. It's always a must that we will end our dining experience with a couple Carajillo cocktails. I hope after reading all this you enjoy Scotch 80 as...
Read morePrepare to have your culinary expectations not just met, but gloriously exceeded. Scotch 80 Prime, nestled within the opulent Palms Casino Resort, isn't just a steakhouse; it's a transcendent dining experience that redefines what "prime" truly means. From the moment you step through the doors, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of sophisticated cool, where a lively buzz of conversation harmonizes with a chic, modern aesthetic that feels both luxurious and comfortable.
The heart of the experience is, of course, the steak, and Scotch 80 delivers with breathtaking precision. The menu is a love letter to the art of the perfect cut, showcasing an impressive array of dry-aged and wet-aged beef, all cooked with a masterful touch. The kitchen's respect for the ingredients is palpable; every steak is seared to a flawless crust, locking in juices and flavor that will have you savoring every last bite.
In my humble opinion, Scotch 80's brilliance extends far beyond the beef. The side dishes, often an afterthought at other establishments, are stars in their own right. The Truffle Mac & Cheese is a decadent, creamy dream, and the Duck Fat Fries are a revelation—crispy on the outside, fluffy within, and impossibly flavorful.
The service is, in a word, impeccable. My server, Lee, was a true professional: knowledgeable without being pretentious, attentive without being intrusive. His recommendations were spot-on, and his passion for the menu was infectious. The team works in seamless harmony, ensuring your water glass is always full and every need is anticipated before you even have to ask.
Being a bourbon and scotch connoisseur, the bar program is a destination in itself, boasting an encyclopedic collection of whiskies, bourbons, and scotches that will make any aficionado's heart flutter. A pre-dinner cocktail is the perfect prelude, and a post-meal dram is the ideal conclusion to an extraordinary evening.
Scotch 80 Prime is more than a dinner; it's a celebration of exceptional food, flawless service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like the most important guest in the room. It’s the kind of place you book for a special occasion, but then find yourself returning to just because it's that good. This isn't just the best steakhouse in Las Vegas; it's one of the best restaurants, period. A visit here is not just recommended,...
