Dissapointed. I went at 3:30am. The plaza they are in is always busy with a lot of my favorite places. I kept trying to remember Lees as I have seen it hustling at various times. I decided to give it a shot.
Let me get the poor part out of the way & save the good part for the end of the review. Not very clean feeling walking in, poor communication from staff to cook to customer. Didn't even know my number to be called was on the receipt. I will say she did ask if I wanted a paper bag & remembered to put napkins in the bag. THAT IS A PERSONAL 5 STAR. (big pet peeve when places don't ask & worse don't put napkins or tell you napkins are located over...). So really just more communication & don't let the customer expect, just tell them it's going to be 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 7 minutes etcetera. The sandwiches that did come out looked good but more like the pretty bakeries that don't really bake well. I would go back & try it again if that helps at all. Ok now to the positive part.
Moving from Miami Beach I can honestly say I felt like I was at a Cuban Bakery. Except a Cuban Bakery is a 10 compared to this. I was hoping for more Asian Cuisine. It's definitely just a sandwich place. What i got was delicious & is the reason I provided 3 stars. I got spring rolls which was not what I was expecting. It was shrimp rolled with veggies & I was expecting more of an egg roll (spring roll). It's ok because I'd go back just for that. Unfortunately I ate it too quickly to remember to snap a photo.
I also got a Binh Ban Bun. I think that is what it's called. Omg it was delicious! I wish it was a little more fresh than when I purchased it but they werent making any more for the night. Again, delicious. And worth the trip over there.
Overall it just wasn't a great customer experience & for me it's all about the customer experience AND the food. Thankfully the food I purchased was good.
Itll be a little while but I will definitely be...
Read moreFood ordered: 3 - #5 Grilled Pork Sandwiches, 3 - Mango smoothies, 1 - Strawberry smoothie, 2 - chocolate chip cookie, 2 - bags of chips Total Cost : $55
Sandwiches were 5/10, Smoothies 7/10, Cookies 5/10. Not going to rate chips.
Not sure what was going on with the service. I walked into the establishment with a party of 5. There were 4 workers standing in the back area where we could visibly see them staring at us. I stood & waited for 15 minutes before one of the workers came to take our order. I tried to order & the woman spoke no English. So she pointed bk to the other pregnant lady 🤰. The pregnant worker took our order. I asked for Pate chaude but she looked to the warming area & said they were out. Then asked for egg rolls which she replied the exact same way. SMH 🤦🏽 That Lee's Shop is open 24hr, so you can imagine my frustration learning that they have the food I was asking for but didn't want to make it. There were also about 3 kids, obviously kids of the workers, horse playing around the restaurant. One of the children ran behind the counter playing/ messing with stuff under the counter. The kids began yelling over each other and throwing random things throughout the restaurant. I have kids too so I understand but that's not very professional. Especially when your just trying to enjoy a nice dinner. Overall experience was a 5/10. I believe that's a fair rate despite my...
Read moreIve seen lee's frozen viet coffee concentrate in asian stores and am happy I got to finally try the sandwiches at this spot!! Also, considering this is my 1st time eating their sandwiches, i cant attest to quality from previous years.
Decor feels like its stuck in 1990s. I like it. It looks like a nice place for young folks to hang out and eat snacks along with their sandwiches. The sandwich size is comparable to places in DC but not in NYC. I def prefer NYC sandwiches more but these were a nice / quick meal. The egg rolls were fine. They dont have the Woodear mushroom so its doesn't give me an authentic feel. I would come for a quick snack. I prefer NYC ones which are differently shaped (lees are more skinny tubular and NYC ones are more almond shaped) and more filled with ingredients. #11 only had 3 slices of cold cuts, pate, and the works.
I think overall, $8.50 is overvalued for the filing amt. Even in NYC chinatown, you can get a bigger sized bahn mi with 2x meat for similar pricing. It isn't a must first try BUT it was nice to see the restuarant of the grocery store item I've seen so many times.
Soda refills are 49 cents. The prepared food offerings are slacking Though. They only had one steamed bun and some baked pastries/egg rolls on display/for sale.
#11 $8.50 5 pcs "egg" roll (pork and...
