Sushi business is cut-throat in Las Vegas. There are soooo many of them and the reviews are all over the board for any one joint. I tend to like the traditional sushi restaurants where simple nigiris are served. And if omakase is offered, I always take up the chef's choice option because that's when you get to try the seasonal fish (if you didn't know what to order). Many a times I get introduced to new sushi this way.
I chose to come to Naked Fish's Sushi because the Google reviews seemed to come from folks who enjoyed sushi (and not rolls, although this place does serve rolls). Nobody mentioned omakase, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was offered.
The sushi chefs were Japanese (Chef Ryu & Chef Aki) and they did a fabulous job. They served me Shima Aji, Kinmedai (golden eye snapper), Kare (flounder), Hamachi Belly, Salmon Belly, Hirame, Japanese & Santa Barbara Uni, Mirugai, Scallop, Hotaru Ika (firefly squid), and finished off with two OToro (one seared, one plain).
The Japanese uni had better texture because the pieces were smaller; but taste-wise, it was almost the same as the SB uni. The hotate (scallop) was topped with sea salt and lined with a small piece of shiso leaf underneath that I wasn't expecting, but I love the flavor. I was slightly disappointed with the Otoro because the texture were a bit rugged and not the melts-in-your-mouth feel.
Overall, I loved this place. My meal came about to be about $80 (with Hamachi carpaccio appetizer). I hope to try it again when I'm...
Read moreThis was the first time I experienced such unpleasant treatment at this restaurant. When I walked in and asked if there were any available seats, the Japanese server said, âIf we clean up, there will be seats available,â while checking the reservation list. However, after I waited for about 15 minutes, she suddenly told me, âWeâre full right now and cannot seat you.â
At that moment, the owner, who is also the sushi chef, clearly instructed the staff to clean the tables since the kitchen was not busy. Despite this, the server kept insisting that there were no seats. It was obvious that she simply didnât want to seat two people at a four-person table.
On top of that, Google Maps showed that reservations could be made and even indicated that seats were available. Yet the reality was the exact opposite. Honestly, this felt like an insult to customers. If a server is going to pick and choose which customers to serve, then she shouldnât be working in hospitality or the restaurant business at all.
Itâs clear that this restaurant has serious issues with customer service. Looking at the Google reviews, I saw many other people complaining about the same thing.
I will never return to...

My wife and I had a really bad experience here. We ordered separately â steak and sides for her (she doesnât eat seafood), two sushi rolls for me. Another table came in after us, ordered almost the same thing, and got their food well before we did.
Her food arrived, mine didnât. When we asked, the staff gave multiple excuses â first that my rolls âtake longerâ (even though the other table got theirs), then said they thought we were sharing everything, despite us clearly stating we werenât.
We were ignored for over 10 minutes in a tiny restaurant where itâs hard to miss a table. No silverware was brought with her food. I asked to cancel mine so we could leave. Instead of resolving anything, the waitress touched my shoulder to âcalm me downâ â I wasnât even angry, just uncomfortable and confused.
We asked to pay for what we ate and leave. They refused. We ended up paying $74 for a stressful, drawn-out mess of an experience. Took our food to go and got Chick-fil-A instead.
Definitely...
