Just moved to Houston and so glad that there are so many Boba/tea shops.

Let's talk tea/drinks and then I'll go into more detail about the building and staff. Deal? Deal!

I have tried several other "tea" shops. The one thing that seems to really stand out is the Boba itself is always large and firm. Just the way we like it. Other shops have had smaller or softer balls. No one likes soft balls! amiright? I have been going to one of the two Boba shops in the area every other day or so for about a month. My go to is the cream tea w/ Boba. I love this! It had been consistently delicious! And every other visit I alternate getting another type of tea OR.. I get one of the fruit smoothies. Off the top of my head the Taro Cream Tea and the pineapple mango smoothies stand out as being my favorite new discoveries.

The building is always clean and plenty of space to sit and chill if you wanted to enjoy your drink on site. The bathroom is might be the darkest restroom ice ever been in. Not sure what this is about. Put some light bulbs in? I don't know but it's strange.

Shrug I have one pet peeve about this place. The staff are all extremely nice. But every single one of them are low talkers. Normally this would be bad enough. But they are also required to wear masks. I can't understand anything their saying. They walk to the counter, say hello, so low there is no perceivable sound that comes from them. And not being able to see their mouths. I don't know that they have said anything at all.

OK I lied.. I have two pet peeves. When I asked the sommelier what they recommended. They looked at me like I had two heads. Shouldn't this be sumething they do all day long every day? This is the best way for the company to increase repeat customers. I need to be welcome and greeted and when I ask for advice they need to be forthcoming..

That is all.. ...

Overall I’m disappointed in this place. I was staying at the hotel close by and used to work and live locally here but as a visitor I won’t be going back. The inside looks super cool and they have a decent menu and the products were goodish but hands down the staff and customer service was absolutely terrible. Employee (girl with head scarf and curly hair) was slow to greet and to ask what I wanted , and you want to know why she was slow … because she was on her phone. Not only was she on her phone, but as I began to ask questions about products that they had, she was texting and was barely paying attention. Like how unprofessional and rude is it that when a customer comes in your sitting, actively texting on your phone, not only as you’re walking up to the counter but as you’re actively taking an order from the customer. The atmosphere was dull when you would think it would be pretty lively for a place that looks this cool and it’s pretty obvious why probably. The staff showed no excitement, simple orders took literally 10 times longer than what they needed to be because employees were busy on their phones and doing God knows what. Aside from the male employee working.

One lady waited, which seem to be 20+ minutes. Even though her order seemed pretty simple. And there were a total of like four to six people in the store four of which had already gotten their stuff. This place could easily be a solid 4-5 star establishment that has a great ambience and vibe, but honestly, the customer service was awkward, slightly annoying, and felt very, very unprofessional and unwelcoming. I never leave reviews hardly ever, but this one definitely needed an honest one. Fix the staff attitude and professionalism issues and this place would be...

Noticed someone left a review just before I did, I had the same bad experience with the cashier. I come here often and never had an issue until today.

Me and my girlfriend ordered a taro smoothie and matcha green tea. As we ordered I noticed the cashier had a dry rude attitude. After we finished ordering my girlfriend asked me about the cashier and how she served us. Even with that I hoped that at least the drinks were good. They weren’t.

The taro smoothie I ordered is just pure ice and water. I’ve ordered this before, and its never tasted like that. It was watered down and lumps of ice were still in it. The worse one though was the matcha green tea my girlfriend ordered. It tasted like bottled water with a mixture of olive oil. Probably the worst tea I’ve tasted. We wanted to return the tea but were doubtful it would be done better at the same location. We instead went to the Louetta/2920 location and it was much better.

I didn’t want to leave a bad review for a place I go to often, but the service and tea made by the cashier today was just really bad. As someone who visits often, I don’t see myself returning for awhile. I hope that the current service doesn’t turn off new customers either.

Update in response to Owner: The order was placed today on August 7, 2021...

Newly opened with a fresh, modern design. The staff was friendly when I made my pickup. Additionally, I felt comfortable that the staff was taking the necessary covid precautions, as they removed seating to prevent congregating and had a 'masks required' sign. The facility itself also appeared very clean too. I ordered frozen mochas and a 'cream tea', which is The Boba Shop's version of milk tea using a non-dairy milk. I could not tell a taste difference, just a slightly thicker consistency to regular milk tea. The prices are in the normal ballpark of boba cafes, so no surprise there. Definitely recommend if you are in the area or if you are sensitive to dairy!

Update 2025: Drinks are still as great 2 years later, service is good, but my only complaint is everytime I order their gyozas for to go I never get their tempura sauce for the dumplings. So it's super dry by itself, I usually eat there and have to ask for some type of dipping sauce Tried their egg sandwich it was pretty good. Taro tea and house milk tea was perfect not too sweet like other places, their dumplings could’ve used some sauce but it’s fine by itself and I paired it with their noodles. Smash hit!!

We stopped here to try it out. We used to frequent the other business that was here. Have to say, we are more than pleased with our visit and plan to return. I had my goto Thai tea and my husband had a kiwi peach smoothie. Both were really delicious. Also tried the Taiwanese noodles. I had spicy and my husband had regular. Ate every bite. It also bears mentioning that all that was only 20 bucks exactly and the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a stop if you are nearby.
