Charlo's Provisions & Eatery — Restaurant in Springfield

Yo! Meandering on foot in downtown Springfield in search of a late lunch. Wondering what does it all mean? Lost in thought. Or just lost. The universe. Space. Time. The weather. Did I put the clothes in the dryer? No answer.

I found my answer when I stumbled across this gem of a restaurant! Charlo's Provisions & Eatery is a fantastic joint! Great location! Store front of the parking garage! So definitely ample parking!

Having never eaten here before. I don't get out much. I'm not hip or cool anymore. Home, work, home. Home, work, home. The mundanity of day to day.

Craving a burger and staying the course. I went to the burger. It's called the The Local Burger! It is fantastic. No exclamation point needed. The burger is the exclamation point. The bun, stellar. The burger, stellar. Crisp lettuce! Cooked to perfection! Very tasty! Crushed it! I accompanied the burger with sweet potato fries! Nicely done! There was a dusting of grated parm, which really brings it to the next level! Washed it down with a Mother Stewart's Witt Beer! Which was nice pairing. Recommend doing that.

I will most definitely be returning for lunch for my once a week day off work lunch spot. OAWDOWLS. Creating new acronyms here people! In the future, I'll definitely try the dinner menu. For now. It's just lunch. I'm a lunch person.

First time going and was quite disappointed. It was extremely loud, but that's due to the high, warehouse-type ceilings. The server was pleasant, but I ordered a catfish po-boy and when it came out it was clearly shrimp. I mentioned it and she said, it may be catfish (as if I couldn't visibly tell the difference between a catfish filet and the FOUR shrimp on that oversized bun), let me check the ticket. She proceeds to go in the kitchen, confirm it was in fact catfish, then told me they would take the shrimp off that and make me a catfish one in place of it. She took the entire plate while the rest of my party ate their food. My father offered some of their fresh, homemade chips off his plate. Fresh? They were cold w/what appeared to be parmessean from the pIastic bottle sprinkled on top. He ordered a glass of Riesling and it was served in a water glass. It took no less than 15 minutes for the food to come back out and I was about to cancel the order entirely, but just told her to bring it out in a box because everyone else had finished eating and I no longer had an appetite. I didn't ask for any compensation/credit, but it certainly wasn't offered either. We paid and left a very gernerous tip, but I will NOT be back when I'm...

I came to Charlos for lunch and was greeted immediately upon arrival and shown to my table. It was fairly busy, but still had a few tables available. My server, Alaina told me about the specials and took my drink order. I ended up ordering the lunch special which was a dry aged beef patty melt and added lettuce and tomato. I chose the he bacon bourbon green beans as my side and I was completely satisfied with both choices. The sourdough bread on the melt was toasted perfectly and the beef on the patty melt was exactly as juicy as you’d want it to be on a sandwich served on toast. The green beans were phenomenal, and the bacon was thick cut bacon- not some cheap thin floppy bacon you might find at other restaurants.
