It's a cute concept. Unfortunately I feel it failed in its execution.
I went on a busy Saturday and expected a bit of a wait to get my hummus plate and veggie wrap. I did not expect to wait 30 minutes, and I did not expect the pita bread and the wrap to both be fried! Who does that? The young man who took my order was very friendly and professional. Unfortunately other staff members were not wearing masks, despite a city mask mandate and Union Station's own policy. I was order 34 and listened as they called out 19...20...(etc.)...31...30...39...40... I went in just to see if I'd missed them calling my name, but no, it was really a 39 minute wait for two items that could be assembled with no cooking, if they hadn't insisted on frying all the breads.
When my order finally came, I had to go back to the counter to request silverware. Luckily the young man who'd taken my order checked on me and I didn't have to wait through the line again. The outdoor seating was nice, with a view over the koi pond. Music was playing and there was a fire show at 1 pm. The experience was all right but the majority of my food went to waste after that long wait. Had hoped for fresher and better quality food that didn't take half an hour. Probably...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars, I would have. I NEVER write reviews, but this place was awful! If you order the chicken tender platter, it comes with sauce. If you order the kids chicken nuggets, it comes without sauce. Riddle me that! The kids meals come with a drink, but if you get a drink from the cooler and you need a cup with a lid and a straw, you’ll be charged $1. If you want any sauce with the kids meal, you’ll be charged $.50 — NO EXCEPTIONS!!! We went when there was 1 cashier and 2 cooks. One of the cooks must have been the manager, because he was able to turn down the blaring music. This did upset them that we asked the music be turned down, it was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other. We had to ask what was available to eat, because they didn’t have (or it wasn’t working) all the menu on. Terrible!! Awful!! We thought this was the only place to eat near the aquarium— ITS NOT!! Get snacks from the gift shop or go to the Train Shed (just below - downstairs). Whomever owns or runs this restaurant needs to intervene — 2.2 stars for the...
Read moreCame in on a Saturday, shortly after they opened at 11am. We ended up having lunch here because I was really impressed by the outstanding prices. I had not expected to find something so affordable in the mall. The staff was very friendly. My son and I were looking for a gooey butter cake and one of the employees hopped down to the restaurant downstairs to see if they had it, and came back to recommend it. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and a caesar salad. The sandwich was thoroughly saucy, freshly prepared, and was a generous piece of chicken too. Absolutely delicious - I downed it in no time. The caesar salad was considerable in size, with a package of Newmans Own dressing. Quite a few croutons. They had offered crispy chicken with the salad but it was a side for me. My son had the cheeseburger, which came with applesauce and a drink, and he said his cheeseburger was really good. The food came out pretty quickly and overall we were very pleased. I'd definitely return if I were back at...
