This is a lovely place located in the Magnolia Hotel downtown. It is located on the 1st floor towards the back when you come thru the doors. The menu selection is small but the prices are big. I ordered the scallops, but they were out, so I ordered the Angus filet. We ordered their wings as an appetizer, and my daughter had the pecan crusted salmon. I also ordered the Magnolia Mayfair salad. The filet and salmon had no seasoning on it. The salad was a few pieces of romaine lettuce that was supposed to be grilled but it just had some char marks on it and was cold. The wings were ok, they weren't seasoned well either, but that was the best thing we ordered. My daughter was highly disappointed and when the bill came, she was extra disappointed 😞. Parking is at a premium since it's location is right on the street and in the middle of downtown, we lucked up getting a space right outside because it was on a Sunday and someone had just left. The restroom is on the second floor so you have to leave the restaurant and take the elevator upstairs. If you're going there thinking about Ms Robbies old restaurant Sweetie pies, please dont. This is supposed to be "fine dinning" for the people who are staying at the...
Read moreFreezing temperatures in the dining room made it very uncomfortable. Food was not up to a fine dining experience as they advertised. They are sorely understaffed so there was no way for them to keep up and the restaurant was half empty. I can’t imagine had it been busy. Ordered steak frites and the fries could have been from a diner. They brought the wrong salad twice, each time it was the same sad filet which had been back and forth to the table on the different salads over the course of 30 minutes so it was freezing (the same temperature as the room). The picture is of the salad from the first go around. They brought a completely different salad than what I ordered. The steak was as hard as a rock and I finally just asked them to take the salad after it came the second time with croutons and I had ordered without. They asked me to scrap the croutons off the salad myself and I explained I am celiac and cannot just scrap off croutons. I will say the bartender was trying her best but she is not a miracle worker. Between them not having enough people to take care of the tables there and the disaster of the food, this was not the experience they sell on the website. Many things went...
Read moreMy husband and I were in St. Louis for a little weekend stay. Things were going great until our breakfast this morning. They were extremely shorthanded and it took 45 minutes to get our breakfast which came out cold, ill prepared and not as described as on the menu. What made it worse was people who came in after us were getting their food before us. A table with a family walked out due to the fact that their breakfast was not coming out in a timely manner. They had waited 35 - 40 minutes as well.
The server was not to blame. He was busting his butt to get things done but was literally held captive by poor management from the GM down. If you cannot get things done to help your team or figure this out you are in the wrong business.
We ourselves have been in the restaurant industry for years. We would never have let this happen to our staff or our guests.
We will stay at the hotel because it was convenient and clean but we will not dine at their restaurant unless...
