Have gone there the first three days of my vacation and spent about $60 in total and tipped each day. The owner did not give me and punches on the card either day and when i asked the girl for my punches and explained the situation (not rudely at all) she acted like i was trying to steal from them and then went and asked the owner. He said thats fine (which is the proper thing to do) and she gave us this attitude the rest of the transaction. The girl also carried on a full conversation with another girl while taking my order which was very unprofressional and very uncomfortable as i couldnt get a word in... also i thought the owner was a worker who absolutely hated his job... no welcome or anything. Really needs to work on his customer service skills. Dont get the bagels. Definitely no new york bagel. Couldnt even finish my bagls with...
Read more"Tips are appreciated!" here. I know this because there are signs everywhere. And other reviews note, they ask if you'd like to leave a tip on the card. 1. You gave me an empty cup to pour coffee into myself, and some put lox spread on an untoasted bagel. No, not tipping for that; 2. If I wanted to, I would tell you. And asking is more obnoxious than the Toast screens with a recommended amount; 3. If you're going to take this approach, greet customers with a smile; 4. Employees in a self-service restaurant should be paid enough to avoid commercial panhandling. And they likely are. VT has a high minimum wage.

Their selection of fresh-baked bagels and wide range of cream cheeses is unmatched. Apart from the traditional, their sandwiches are also great. If you enjoy Salmon, then I cannot recommend 'The New Yorker' highly enough!
The ONLY concern I've ever had with the Bagel has been its staff. The woman that previously owned the Bagel came across as somewhat rude and uninterested in the satisfaction of her customers. The Bagel was recently purchased by another local, Max. With the new ownership the atmosphere in the Bagel has improved immensely, and I look forward to seeing the effects of his positive energy as time progresses.
