Fast casual but on the pricey side — worth it? Here’s my take.
We came in as a family of six, and the setup wasn’t the smoothest. Ordering is done through a single kiosk, and after we finished, a line built up with no staff around until much later. Seating was cramped, tables were pushed close together, and the place felt hot and noisy. Not ideal for a larger family. On top of that, there’s only one restroom stall.
Food took around 15–20 minutes to come out. The pricing is a little misleading at first glance — $13.99 for a wrap, bowl, or salad, and $14.99 for a plate. But once you add protein, the cost varies and quickly climbs. For six meals, we ended up spending close to $100.
As for the food: • Kafta plate (mine): Good flavor but not enough meat compared to the large portions of rice and salad. • Steak plate: My son, who loves steak, wasn’t impressed — he just said “meh.” • Chicken shawarma bowl: My second eldest enjoyed it, especially the moist chicken and rice. • Kids’ steak plate with fries: The youngest two liked theirs.
The saffron rice wasn’t dry, but it lacked a little seasoning — maybe that’s just how they prepare it. The real star of the plate for me, surprisingly, was the salad. It was fresh, crisp, and balanced the meal better than the protein portions did. The sauces, however, were a miss — the “Fire Sauce” tasted more like spicy spaghetti sauce, and the yogurt sauce was thin and watery (see video).
I noticed a lot of other diners ordering grilled wraps, which might be the better choice next time.
Overall, my kids enjoyed their meals more than I did. For me, the portions leaned too heavily on sides, the space was cramped, and service was slow. The food had its highlights (that salad especially), but not quite enough to justify the price. Since the restaurant is new and still finding its footing, I’ll round up to 4 stars, though personally it felt closer to a 3.5.

The only thing I can recommend is that they allow you to add the sauce into the wrap at order instead of having to add it yourself, but that’s pretty minor. In terms of the plate, I got the half chicken and half beef. The chicken was really good. I definitely say one of the best I’ve had but the Gyro beef was extremely thinly cut to the point. You can see light passing through it and extremely hard definitely felt like it was sitting out for a while for some reason and they give you two sides, but for a plate, rice should automatically Come with the play and then you can add two additional sides on top of that but instead I had to use one of my sides for rice. I only mention this because it was $15 for the plate with an additional two dollar up charge for doing half beef. Also, once again saw should be allowed to be ordered on top of the plates at order instead of on the side because definitely felt a little dry. Also, not all the meats were Halal so had to check that back again, but major majority were which was good. But in terms of service and atmosphere, it was absolutely great. The team was super kind so I definitely would go back just for that. No hate just want to give an honest review of a new spot.

Read moreA new Mediterranean spot in Sugar Land, finally! I decided to take the family to try this place today. This is a brand new restaurant, so as expected, everything was spotless and looked very nice. The restaurant was very clean with a very helpful staff. I tried a Plate with Schwarma Chicken and my wife had a Falafel Salad. My youngest just wanted a bowl of Saffron Rice, which he finished after mixing in some Fire Chili Sauce. I thought it had a serious kick, but according to my son, the Chili Sauce isn't spicy🤷🏻♂️ Our food came out quickly. Both dishes were good sized portions. The flavor on both was good and the Pita Bread wasn't too small or too thin. I couldn't finish the Hummus so I took it to-go. The restaurant is in a Strip Center, so there's plenty of parking. It's also a kid friendly restaurant, which btw, if they're 10 or under, their meal is free on the weekends! Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Again, it was our first visit so that's why I gave it 4☆'s. I'm sure that'll change though after a few more visits. If you're in the area and craving Mediterranean, The Kebab Shop is definitely...
