Ahoy, me hearties! Batten down the hatches and hoist the Jolly Roger, 'cause I've just returned from a voyage to the most spectacular hidden treasure in Tampa Bay: Morgan's Cove Speakeasy! 🏴‍☠️

This ain't yer average grog shop, me mateys. From the moment ye step through the hidden entrance, ye be transported to a world of pirates, plunder, and potent potables! The atmosphere be so thick with pirate charm, ye'll be checkin' yerself for a parrot and a peg leg! 🦜

Now, gettin' into this cove ain't easy. There be a waitlist longer than a kraken's tentacle, but fear not! Yeoman's be right next door, so grab a bite and a swig while ye bide yer time. Trust me, it be worth the wait!

Once inside, the crew be top-notch. They know their grog like a seasoned buccaneer knows his cutlass! ⚔️ I sampled the Gaspar's Grog and the Pan-Dan Killer, and shiver me timbers, they were both the nectar of the gods! The menu even has a "strength guide" - from mild (1 skull) to strongest (4 skulls). Choose wisely, or ye might find yerself walkin' the plank!

A special shoutout to Lisa and Amanda, whose amazing hospitality made us feel like we were part of the crew! ⚓

We were lucky enough to be there on a night when a whole fleet of pirates from local krewes were in attendance. Talk about an unforgettable experience! This place be a hit, no doubt about it!

Update: I’m changing my review from two stars to one because I reached out using the link mentioned in Morgan Cove’s response to my review over a month ago and no one has reached out. They only respond to reviews to make it seem like they care about your experience, but clearly they don’t. Super disappointing and a waste of time reaching out to them.

When we arrived we were happy there was only a 5 minute wait. The cover charge was $10 each which would not be bad except once we got in we realized they’d taken out every single table, chair, and bar stool in the entire place. There was only one wall of benches that were built in to the wall so I assume they only left them because they could not physically taken out. Every single seat on the bench was taken and about 60 other people were just standing in the room drinking and looking miserable.

There was no way to order food. The drinks took 20 minutes and were about $20 once you tipped (I’m not even sure why we tipped when the service took so long and the drinks did not taste good.) To be fair, we went during Gasparilla, so I would hope this is not the normal experience. Update: I reached out using the link mentioned in the response to my review and no one has gotten back to me, over two weeks later. They’re just responding to reviews to appear as though they care, but clearly they don’t.

Even then, they should have communicated better that there was no furniture in the bar, so that we could manage our expectations. Y’know, since bar stools at a bar were expected.
