This great eatery and meeting spot champions an important mission to bridge people with addiction, incarceration and homelessness to job training, employment and affordable housing opportunities. We held a community information business meeting in a large room that also serves as the place for Sunday services. Breakfast was great with REAL scrambled eggs, super crisp bacon, container yogurt and really fresh chopped fruit, with freshly brewed coffee and water. Basic, great, and basically great food for our event. They also offer a restaurant with line serving, indoor seating in several distinct areas from high top tables, accessible tables, and comfy sofa settings. They also offer out door seating with accessible tables with umbrellas and free of morning sun. The signage of the delicious menu is posted, yellow background with dark letters, readable and free of glare with a chalkboard sign of todays special, chef salad and more. They list an array of community events, events to support the mission, and fun things to do. I enjoyed seeing the games at the games to play while dining here for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Accessible entry/exit with manual doors, accessible venue, Accessible men's, women's and family restrooms with grab bars, 5ft x 5ft space. Family restroom has diaper changer. They also have kids high chairs. Accessible van parking in street parking pay by app. Some free parking is available a few blocks away with...
Read moreIt's alright. After combing through every coffee house in the city on Google Maps, I noticed this one was one of the highest rated in all of Tampa, so I knew I needed to visit. After spending a few hours here though, it's pretty clear that no one thinks this is an amazing cafe or anything; this place is highly rated mainly because it's a massively popular community center. In the span of just a few hours, I saw a Bible study, a job interview for a blue collar job, a group of homeless people, a woman (I'm guessing a parolee) who was being trained to help with custodial work, and what looked like an AA meeting in the private meeting room. It has a beautiful exterior and interior (I think it's a restored church building), with some cozy space for drinking coffee and eating brunch. However, this place is only open weekdays during work hours, and because the cafe explicitly caters to the homeless and jobless (see their mission statement in my photos), there are a lot of shady characters walking around. I walked past a shirtless dude outside the building, and inside, I could clearly hear a woman muttering violent stuff to herself and chuckling (very mentally ill). This is a safe sanctuary for people in a rough patch, but you might feel very unsafe if you're not accustomed...
Read moreSo I was invited to this place for a focus group. Which I must say I enjoyed incredibly the portico Cafe was my first time being here. I absolutely love this place I enjoyed the atmosphere the quality of food was awesome although I only had coffee and a couple snacks and this turkey sandwich all which were delicious. It was a breath of fresh air from the other coffee shops that are normally overcrowded and overpriced. I believe the pricing here was fair and reasonable the quality was above average I'm a big coffee connoisseur I enjoyed the coffee here it was fresh with all the condiments that I drink sometimes with my coffee. The overall ambience of the cafe was calm cool and quiet. The restrooms were well cleaned and so was the cafe. I recommend this place to visit just for coffee or the food great people and good atmosphere like I always, four stars for me is the highest I usually give and that's because I believe there's always room for improvement in this case possibly the menu options could have had a little bit more diversity. Overall keep up the good work and I...
