Valet parking excellent but pricey and there are parking areas around. We used valet due to disabled person. Chk in person not familiar with 8th fl bar/kitchen open times when asked. THERE IS NOT A TRUE RESTAURANT! Wasnât told elevators need your keycard. Had to ask. Got to the âhandicapped accessible â room. Very nice but not fully accessible. Way too many light switches on lamps and in places a wheelchair couldnât get to! Also not enough space to get to the side of the bed nearest the window which is where the buttons are for opening the drapes so hopefully you have an able bodied person to do that. I am doing the rest of the room first. My wheelchair bound wife went to take a shower and I helped her scoot to the little bench in there, does anybody take their chair in there and get it all wet, I donât know but she went to turn on the water and adjust it and the whole thing pulled out of the wall! I was able to carefully put it back on and got it to work. Now this Hotel opened in March 2025! How is it that damaged? The shower floor is TILE so when wet is very slippery so when she put her feet on the floor to scoot to her wheelchair, she slipped and went to the floor. Not good! Put all the towels on the four so I could get her up and in her chair. The big towels are on rods but all wash clothes and face towels are in cubbies around the sink so get wheeling around for what u need. The mini frig is on the floor IN a cabinet so not at all wheelchair friendly to get to and open the double doors. Now the bars are nice BUT they donât use the ground floor one because of low patronage of the hotel! We went to the 8th floor where the bar and pool are, you need your rm keycard to get in the pool, and up there is the NOT RESTAURANT, it is a bar food kitchen!!! Now they were both open but minimal food, see pict of menu. Not a main course in there. Got something to eat and a drink then left. Went back up around 7:30, food open till 9:00, bar 10:00, both closed because of rain even though the kitchen is not affected by rain but still no food EXCEPT the little store they have with sweets, soups, and frozen micro dinners you can buy. OMG, $190.00 a night and we are expected to nuke our food!! Now breakfast was a gem. A Baymont has a full buffet, not this place. It is Motel 6 quality food. Egg Mcmuffin type thing with a shaved pc of ham, 1/8 inch egg pattie,on a muffin baked too long to chew. They also had a kale frittata that was broke in the middle, yummie. Make your own waffles, fruit, juice, dry cereals but NO RESTAURANT!! Not happy with what we paid and what we got. Have fun cause you wonât see us back there. Oh forgot. We smoke and right outside the door we got asked for money several times from...
Read moreI stayed at SpringHill Suites on N Tampa St for a quick overnight visit to catch up with friends over dinner. I chose the property for its location near my friendâs home, strong reviews, and the opportunity to use my Marriott points. It seemed like a solid choice. Unfortunately, the stay didnât live up to expectations.||The room was next to a âChemical Supply Room,â which wasnât exactly reassuring, but I moved past that. More pressing was the issue with the deadbolt. It didnât work. I called the front desk and spoke with Alex, who explained that the lock was âautomatedâ and might already be engaged without a visible indicator. I appreciated the explanation, but I reiterated that the mechanism physically wouldnât turn. Alex said heâd send someone from housekeeping up to check it out. No one arrived. After waiting over an hour, I had to leave for dinner.||Later that night, I returned to find the issue still unresolved. I went back to the front desk and spoke with a staff member who was sympathetic and said security would be on duty soon and could assist. Security arrived as promised, inspected the lock, and confirmed it was stuck. He tried to fix it, but the lock wouldn't budge. He was courteous and professional, reassured me the room was otherwise secure, and encouraged me to ask the front desk about switching rooms if I wanted.||By that point, it was nearly midnight. I opted not to move rooms since I was too tired to repack and relocate that late.||Other observations:||1. The bedside light on one side of the bed didnât work||2. There was a stain on the sofa arm||3. The bathroom door had some kind of splatter that looked old||4. One pillowcase appeared dirty, which raised questions about the rest of the bedding||5. An alarm I didnât set went off at 6 a.m.||That said, there were some clear positives. The location is excellent. The lobby and public spaces are modern and well-kept. The rooftop bar and pool are a highlight. And every staff member I interacted with was polite, responsive, and seemed to genuinely care.||One standout was the valet who greeted me when I arrived around 4:30 p.m. He mentioned he was working until 11 and throughout the interaction, he was incredibly professional, kind, and welcoming. I didnât catch his name, but his customer service stood out as exceptional and truly made a positive impression.||This was my first time redeeming points for a stay, and unfortunately, the experience didnât match the quality Iâve come to expect from other Marriott properties. I hope this was a one-off issue and not reflective of a broader pattern at...
Read moreWe were fortunate enough to stay the first weekend this hotel opened. The staff and management were absolutely fantastic!
The room itself was a decent size. We had a king bed and the trundle sofa worked well for our kids. The trundle can be a bit finicky to get back in; we learned you have to lift it slightly to put it back but it might be because itâs new and needs some time to break it in. The refrigerator wasnât cold, but again it was a brand new room and it cooled down after a bit. Itâs just something to be aware of when you check in to make sure to put the temp down if you need it. One other consideration is the bathroom. It is a combo shower/toilet/sink style (not a separate vanity) and the sliding door has a large glass insert. That makes getting ready while others sleep in the morning a challenge because the light is pretty bright. I didnât try it, but perhaps a towel hung over it might help block the light but if youâll be traveling with anyone on different schedules, a sleep mask might be called for!
Breakfast was well done, with a variety pf hot options every morning (pancakes, egg âMcMuffinâ type sandwiches one morning and mini quiches and scrambled eggs another) we were there along with some standard offerings, including cereal, yogurt, make your own oatmeal with lots of toppings, bacon, and hard boiled eggs. And of course the ever important coffee! The breakfast staff were super helpful and kind as well!
My kiddos tried the pool the first day and gave it a thumbs up (my husband said it was too cold and I was out for work so missed the fun). I did get to try out the gym, which had some good cardio options, a dumbbell set, and a weight machine. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a water bottle filler right there with cups and they also offered single-use ear buds for the cardio entertainment options. Also wipes to clean the machines which I was happy to see (and use)!
The location is better than I expected. Only a couple of blocks from the Straz Center and down a bit from Curtis Hixon, which makes it really walkable. There are two bars; we tried the pool/rooftop bar and the bartenders were great and the weather in the evening was perfect for a relaxing drink.
Overall, though, itâs the people who made our stay exceptional. They really take pride in their hotel and it is evident in every single...
