Under no circumstances order from this place. For my first order, the grubhub website claimed it was delivered when in fact I’ve received nothing. I’m staying at the hotel nearby- checked downstairs in the lobby, absolutely nothing. When I tried contacting the restaurant about it, they put me on hold and never returned… So I reached out to grubhub, got a re-delivery, great. Half an hour later (just a reminder I ordered a single roll and a miso soup and am staying 500 meters away), I get a delivery, from this restaurant. I take the bag, eagerly closing the door as after an hour of delay, I’m finally about to eat: it wasn’t my order. And I don’t mean that they got it wrong, it simply belonged to a different person on this hotel complex. I returned it to the lobby as the delivery person had already left, and went back to my room as my second order was about to arrive. And I get the notification that it was already delivered. And I’m in my room’s hallway, with nothing to be seen. At this point I just gave up and asked for a total refund from grubhub’s costumer service. Was planning on skipping dinner for the night when I heard another knock on the door: and would you look at that my actual order had finally arrived!! they forgot the utensils.
Never in my life has something like this ever happened to me, as much as I’m disappointed I’m equally as impressed. 0/5 would not try again.
I wish this review could have ended here, but I feel like I should also mention the food quality itself, considering this is the entire point of restaurant reviews. Attached is the picture of the aloha roll and miso soup. The cup of soup does come full (I’ve already drunken half of it before taking its pic), but there were no tofu or seaweed in it when it arrived. I paid two dollars for that smudge of wasabi. The green sauce did not come spilled, but I did have to do so because I had no where else to empty the two bags of soy sauce they gave me. The sushi itself was fine, the fish were good quality. I think I just didn’t like this roll specifically, it was way too mushy and pretty plain tasting considering all the special ingredients that went...

Service: Slow. My family and I came on a Wed night at 7pm. It wasn't busy but only 1 server and perhaps 1 (owner/mgr?) working the front of the house. It took at least 5 min (low estimate) for us to be acknowledged with menus or anything after we sat down.
Food: We ordered a variety just to try. Between 2 adults and 1 teenager, we only liked the edamame out of our entire order. My kid only ever eats veggie rolls and she did not like this one; thought it was too mushy? We also ordered sashimi combo for 2, chicken udon, a specialty roll (coronado island), and 2 piece Uni.
Unfortunately, I did not like anything. Fish did not taste fresh. The uni was $12 a pop and I couldn't even finish because it just did not taste fresh at all and I did not feel like forcing myself to eat it just for the sake of $. The specialty roll was just too much. The entire menu of specialty rolls is a combo of so many ingredients all arranged differently; nothing distinct from one another. Perhaps keeping it a little simple would be better. The sashimi also wasn't satisfying. Again, it had more to do with the freshness and texture of the food more than anything.
Being Asian, I would say I'm a little more picky with my japanese cuisine so I already had lowered expectations. But the bill still came out to $150 (including tip); so if I'm going to spend $50/pp, I expect the service and quality to match the price.
Suggestion to restaurant...just keep it fresh and simple. The specialty rolls are just confusing and does not create...
Read moreI placed an order to go and having food allergies I am always skeptical, but I have always had good outcomes with this restaurant. With this order, I feel reassured when the girl on the other end of the phone repeated my order back to. I then drove 30 minutes to pick up my food and then drove 30 minutes back home only to find out that I was given the incorrect food. When I called the restaurant, I was told that I could not get a refund unless I came back to the restaurant, even though I explain that I live 30 minutes away. Being out it’s not the cheapest dinner I decided to bite the bullet and get back in the car for another hour to go get my refund. When I got there I was greeted with apologies, which was nice and then I was given a refund, which was nice. However, I wasn’t given my correct food. so now, coincidentally on my anniversary, my wife ate by herself and I am going to go to In-N-Out now after being in the car for two hours to try to get takeout from this restaurant. A manager who looked to be about 15 years old came out and gave me a $10 gift card and said here we’re sorry this is for next time. To be honest I really just...
