This was our second time at North Italia, the first time was good. Although my husband didn’t enjoy the fungi pizza, we let our server know and she fixed it. My food was good and had a nice portion. I ordered the chicken Parmesan, we also had the truffle bread. It came out over cooked but they were quick to replace it.
Fast forward to our second visit yesterday evening… we chose bar seating to sit to watch the game, my husband to enjoy some beers and no kids. Well we were wrong. They actually allowed someone with a baby to sit in their lap at the bar and watch loud learning tunes, while we’re practically shoulder to shoulder and the windows were wide open while it was 50 degrees freezing us out but we should have anticipated bringing a jacket. So our fault.
Here is how our food went, we ordered the truffle bread again based on how delicious it was last time. We received half the portion of last, and figured they cut back and maybe should order a second one only to see the couple next to us receive nearly double.
I had Dr Pepper while my husband had beer. My Dr Pepper sat empty for well on 30 minutes. I put my glass out and asked but kept getting forgot about all the while bartenders kept passing by. I said you know what I’ll wait till my food comes before asking again and only then did they remember when we waited for going on 45 mins for our dinner, when the people next to us ordered after and ate their whole meal and appetizers before we got ours.
We had to have been there going on 1.5 hours most spent with out drinks or anything in front of us. The portions were off as I ordered pasta with Parmesan cream sauce and received what looked like a child’s portion and my husband received a good portion but with pine nuts after asking for no pine nuts. They saw him pick them out, and never said anything. Once the shifts switched there was a younger gentleman behind the bar, he was incredibly nice and I could have only hoped he would have been there the whole time. This whole date night was a mess. Unfortunately so many other good Italian places to go for good consistent portions and great quality foods. Dissapointed this time around. So much so that we left 15% minus 30-40% the service reflected that.
Possibly because we look young?
Overall, the people were nice but service was lacking and food portions were off tremendously. I hope they can take this feedback and make some adjustments...
Read moreWe recently celebrated Father's Day at North Italia and had a bit of an up-and-down experience.
We kicked things off with the zucca chips and prosciutto bruschetta, and both were fantastic. Highly recommended! They were a delicious way to start the meal and beautifully presented.
My wife ordered the ricotta cavatelli. The first bite surprised her – the dish packed a spicy kick that wasn't mentioned on the menu. While she can handle some spice, it would have been great to know beforehand for those who might be more sensitive. Additionally, the lemon olive oil lacked any real lemon flavor, and there wasn't any bread to enjoy it with.
For my main course, I went with the braised short rib lumache. While the portion size seemed a bit small for the price, the bigger disappointment was the lack of flavor. The menu mentioned "fresh horseradish," but it was noticeably absent. We all know what horseradish brings to the table, and its absence left the dish feeling a bit one-note. Overall, the flavor fell a bit flat for me.
The appetizers were beautifully presented, setting a high bar for the main course. Unfortunately, the pasta arrived in a plain white bowls, cafeteria style. The size of the bowl relative to the portion made it look even smaller. Presentation-wise, it just didn't match the starters.
A big shoutout to our server! She was attentive throughout the meal, keeping our drinks refilled and providing friendly service. She did a great job, especially considering how busy it was.
The final bill came to nearly $100, with just a soft drink and a glass of wine (no dessert). While the appetizers delivered, the main course left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. To be honest, we joked that even The Olive Garden would have at least offered bread and a salad.
With so many Italian restaurants in the area, we probably wouldn't return to North Italia based on this experience. While the appetizers were great, the main courses and some missing menu details fell short. We wouldn't recommend the specific dishes we had to friends...
Read moreCame to the new Woodlands location with my family. First time ever being here and will also be our last. When we arrived no one greeted us upon entering the establishment. (Not a very welcoming first impression). There were three hosts and they all stared at me like I was a ghost. I asked for a table for six. Five adults and a child. Once seated at our table we were greeted by our waitress. Who was nice-ish. Not rude but not really accommodating either. I noticed that the table had been set for only four people and we also still needed a kids menu. I was given a reason as to why I didn’t receive a kids menu, but eventually received one after asking one more time. I had to ask MULTIPLE times for two more place settings. When we received them we were only giving two more forks and napkins, but no knifes. So I asked for knifes another two more times, but this time I was given an excuse. Which the excuse made no since, due to the fact the table behind us had just been freshly set with all silverware pieces and new napkins. We ordered two portions of the grilled bread with olive oil. Only received one and had to ask for the second one. The wine we ordered was a red wine (not meant to be chilled and we’ve had it elsewhere before). The bottle was ice cold. When we asked for a bottle that was room temp the waitress got her manager to bring us one and the manager was very rude. As wine drinkers we are aware of what is and isn’t meant to be kept at 60*F. The manager began to tell us how we were wrong with an attitude and didn’t seem to happy about it. After receiving the check the price was extremely high for the service and care we actually received and the place did not look the part for the prices they want either. It’s meant to be an Italian restaurant, but felt more mediocre and Japanese like. Also when I went to the women’s bathroom is was dirty with paper towels on the floor, toilet paper and even toilets that hadn’t been flushed. The normal stall was barely big enough to turn around in. It was clear they were not...
