When I needed a venue for my mother's 84th birthday, I needed a quiet private room that would facilitate conversation for multiple elderly guests on a Saturday for lunch. I also needed simplification for taking orders from customers w/multiple dietary requirements. The accommodations I received at Romano’s Macaroni Grill (The Woodlands) on the day of my event not only met these requirements but exceeded my expectations. Recently-hired General Manager Will Shelton’s military background emerged when he seamlessly organized the event. Among other things, Will pre-printed menus with our special offerings and provided crayons to circle food choices so ordering became very orderly! He also articulated a short summary to the group describing all menu choices to clarify ingredients. Prior to ordering, appetizers were served by cordial staff members who waited on our guests with promptness and a smile. Though service amazed, a member of waitstaff stunned us when, after a short introduction of his intent, he brilliantly delivered an opera song in Italian! After dining in the finest restaurants Houston and The Woodlands has to offer for the past 25 years, I’ve never enjoyed such a dining treat! And all this appeared as the precursor to fresh, delicious, not-your-typical-chain-tasting food! If you haven’t visited this restaurant in the last three months, you have overlooked a hidden local treasure. I have visited many this location many times in the last ten years and left feeling at the most, unimpressed. However, with this event they have earned my highest accolades. Needless to say, my mother’s birthday luncheon delighted her and I will be recommending this venue in the future.

🎶If I could turn back time🎶 I would never make the dumb decision to come here with my family and save the time and money spent in this second rate “Italian” restaurant. Atmosphere was like the place your soul goes to die. I think I’ve been to Luby’s that had more going on than this place did. The staff looked to be going through the motions but mentally checked out of the reality that they were actually there working. We ordered drinks as soon as we sat down and about 8 minutes later (at an almost dead restaurant) we finally get part of our drink order. The kids to-go cups were filled to the brim to the point that they had overflowed down the side. I asked for napkins to clean the cups and the server walks away with the cup for another 5 minutes. The cup comes back with slightly less coke on the side forcing us to use one of our cloth napkins to wipe it up. After about 15 minutes the server comes back to tell us that the they were out of frozen Bellini mix for our drink…once appetizer comes out we realized that the meal would be complete garbage. The fried mozzarella tasted like a combination of oil and water not cheese. The meals took forever to come out and again I’m going to say there were maybe a handful of tables with patrons. By the time the meals finally came out our expectations were so low and Macaroni Grill did not disappoint, food lacked flavor and honestly we were over it and just wanted to rush through it so we could get the check and leave dinner purgatory. A couple other things I want to point out…horribly uneven table and disgusting dust on the blinds dividing the booths. Skip this place and go to a real non chain Italian restaurant.

The Food was ok. Wished the sauces were creamier. The Lobster Bisque was watery and w/out the Lobster..The Bolognese sauce was too sour. Other than that it was pretty good. The Lobster Ravioli's sauce needed to be thicker and creamier. It comes with the garlic butter sauce. I asked for the alfredo sauce , because it usually tastes awesome with the sauce. The Presentation was Great, but when you actually bit into the food, it was disappointing. I guess because it changed owner's, so of course the taste would change too....the Customer Service was good. Our waiter was weird. We didn't know what mood we were going to get. Everyone else was really nice.

Went to this restaurant on 28 Jan 2023 at 11:30am with my wife, son, daughter-in-law, and 4 month old grandson. Place was empty and the attempted to seat us right behind the reception stand. We asked for new table and were given a small booth and I stood there with my grandson in car seat while the reception person and waiter just stood there. I asked for a child seat and waiter rudely said the reception person would get one when finished seating us. They finally brought the child seat, and we were seated and the waiter, Chris, introduced himself and asked for our drink order. He returned several minutes later with bread but no drinks. We started eating the bread expecting the drinks were on their way and my daughter-in-law began to choke on the dry bread. The drinks did not arrive until 15 minutes after we were seated. Chris then took our order. My wife ordered a salad with chicken and Chris rudely commented "You know that is a salad, right?" We waited an additional 35 minutes for the food (had been in restaurant for 50 minutes) and it finally arrived with lukewarm entrees and cold chicken on my wife's salad. Chris asked is we wanted parmesan cheese and I said yes; he came back with cheese and I turned to talk to my wife and he said "Sir, you need to watch me apply the cheese". My wife asked if the chicken was supposed to be cold and Chris rudely said "no, what do you want me to do about it?" We said we did not want to wait another 30 minutes for a salad and Chris said he would make it right and left. Another individual came to the table (I assume it was the manager although he did not introduce himself) did not apologize but stated the waiter was slow to deliver our food and a new salad would be out in 10 minutes. Salad arrived in 10 minutes but we never saw waiter again - no checks on refilling our empty drinks or how food tasted. Received $100 bill and left. There were no apologies for the late lukewarm food, no checks on how we were doing with drinks or anything else. There are many better Italian places in the Woodlands with friendly staff and better food at this price point. We will...

This was our first time going here and the whole experience was SO terrible it was laughable. We love Italian food and were excited to try something new, we got 4 different pasta entrees and tried both soups, the lobster bisque and the tomato basil. The tomato basil tasted like slightly warm tomato sauce and the lobster bisque didn't have even the slightest piece of lobster in 3 different bowls. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs, the sauce was terrible... on spaghetti! I ordered pasta with roasted garlic creme sauce and the whole entree tasted like just rosemary?? We got another pasta entree with Alfredo sauce and the sauce was very watery and red, so we asked if it was alfredo or something else, and the waiter PUT HIS FINGER IN MY MOTHERS ENTREE AND MOVED HER FOOD AROUND ON HER PLATE, told us that our orders were correct even though it looked/tasted nothing like the kids alfredo sauce we ordered (which was the only good entree we got) when we asked for more sauce for our dry pasta, he charged us for both sauces.

On top of all of the food being gross, the service was ridiculous. Every time our waiter came to our table , he was rude to us and made us feel like an inconvenience to him and his other tables he needed to attend to. Multiple times while we were ordering or asking for something, he would tell us that he needs to bring or do something for another table and leave, not returning for a while.

When we finally got the check and we were ready to leave, we went over to the bar to get a to go drink since our waiter wasn't coming back, and the bartender ignored us for the first several minutes (even though there was NO ONE at the bar) she told us that we need to ask him for a to go drink because that's his job, not hers and refused to give us a refill because "it causes too much of a temptation" to have to go cups at the bar 😐

Anyways, that was probably the worst dining experience I've ever had and I would never...

I am very upset at the experience I had with macaroni grill! Upon several recommendations I booked my group event at macaroni grill. I was told that there were no food and beverage minimums because this is something I could not guarantee. I asked for a monthly meeting room on a day and time were the restaurant with that be that busy so that we could make sure we were not inconveniencing them. Everything sounded wonderful until my group arrived. The waitresses were unsure of the prices for the set menu we had originally arranged. At first I was told it was $10 a plate which seemed logical. I was later stop by one of the waitresses saying that we had to pay the price for the dinner menu. Again not completely unheard of as we were a large group and I was OK with that. The manager then proceeded to stop me and told me that each person in my group had to purchase a lunch plate and it would be a minimum of $25 per person. $25 per person for lunch on a lunch meeting that was supposed to be $10-$15 a person. The general manager Kim was not helpful. She was very rude to me and constantly telling me she explained this to me. The waitresses were not even sure of the prices, So then we came to an agreement at $15 a plate including a drink. However when people started getting their bills it was marked at $25. The manager then proceeded to tell me that that was based on what they ordered, however we had a set menu and they were not allowing people to order off that set menu. I will never bring my group here again and I really suggest to anyone who is planning on doing so, to ask the manager specifically if you have to pay per plate. Also the food was not cooked very well, my fettuccine Alfredo for $25 was undercooked and disgusting...
