When we arrived at the drive-thru speaker to place our order, we were greeted unclearly (the speaker was not working properly). When we worked out that the employee was talking to us, we started to place our order. We wanted to order a combo and then add a couple extra items, but we were given our total after telling her what we wanted for the combo. We informed her that we hadn't completed our order, and she then added the extra items. We were also informed that the biscuits that usually come with the combo were cooking, and it would be about three minutes. That was fine, and we were willing to wait for that.
When we made it to the pick-up window after a few minutes, the employee essentially had to retake our order. We were unsure of what caused the confusion, because it wasn't busy, and the drive-thru is just a single speaker and window. After we reiterated our order, we were given a total that was less than what we were given at the speaker. We asked her again what she had on our order, and once more, she didn't have our extra items on the order, just the single combo. We worked it out, and our total was back to what was expected.
We waited for a couple more minutes, and we were told to have a nice night while the food was given to us, and again, the order was incomplete! We were missing the drink that came with the combo. So we pressed the pager button at the window and asked for our other drink. She apologized, but it did not seem sincere, just that she wanted us out of her hair. I also checked my bag while sitting at the window and realized we weren't given the right side with the combo, but I decided I didn't want to deal with yet another issue.
All in all, a really awful experience. The only redeeming quality was that the chicken was good. The fries (which were given to me instead of the red beans and rice I ordered) were soggy, the cole slaw had a weird, off flavor to it, and the biscuit was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch and it will be the last time I attempt this location again. The service staff is snippy, which I tend to try to be forgiving with since I know short staffing happens and it's obviously the restaurant business MO. However, both times I've been into this location - the staff have been less than pleasant. The current promotions on display aren't even happening still and when I tried to order them, the cashier was a little snappy and followed it up with "nothing on that screen is offered" ; as if someone should know that. We ordered regardless, and while waiting noticed that in the back kitchen area a school age child was permitted to be back there. This was mostly concerning due to it not being safe but it's not like we could do much about it.
We decided to dine in and during our visit the lobby became full of smoke - I've not dined in at a Popeye's before but this seemed far from normal and again, seemed like a safety concern - it almost seemed like the ventilation system was not working properly.
The lobby drink machine was also out of order, but there was not a sign indicating that so when my boyfriend got a refill, he was sprayed with soda since there weren't any nozzles placed on it. The line was so long, it seemed ridiculous to wait for a refill so he refilled carefully but the soda was very flat which I'm guessing is why the machine was "out of order"
The food was passable, at best, honestly. My boyfriends spicy sandwich had basically no sauce on it, the chicken was at least cooked at some point, but little spots felt cold.
I've worked in food service, I've worked with customers and I know how difficult it can be but this location always seems to be barely functioning and I won't be going back again and I wouldn't recommend it to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhere to start? We had arrived before they opened at 10. I saw no one unlock the door, but after 10, we went inside. The lights in the dining room hadn't been turned on.
I go to the restroom and it literally smells like Toledo Zoo. Toilet paper is single-ply and the cheapest at that. There is a urinal and a toilet in the men's restroom. There is an air hand dryer to supplement the empty paper towel dispenser.
The large screens behind the counter were turned off. I asked about them and was told that the sign is wrong. The prices are off. If you want accurate pricing, go to the menu on the website, put in this location, and it will show you the prices before tax. A hassle. Prices were at least 50Ā¢ low across the board.
The manager had one employee working with them. The manager was heard to say, "I'm the only one here to do anything."
The chicken was greasy, more than one would expect from a fried chicken place. At least it tasted good and spicy. The Cajun fries were incredibly bland. The ketchup is made by idk who but it isn't Heinz's.
I'm told, by guests with me, that the mashed potatoes and gravy are garbage. I took one bite of the biscuit and I swear they have changed. They aren't as fluffy and flavorful as they had been. At least the ice was frozen from the soda fountain.
I hadn't been into a Popeye's in many years. This same location being the last one I had visited. I was disgusted with my meal then and swore not to go back. That was over 10 years ago so I thought maybe they got their stuff together. This was not the case.
If you love the chicken there, I agree with you. It is delicious. The rest of the menu I can't speak of. The sides are horrible. The menu says that the mashed potatoes and gravy are 35 cal. There is NO way that is accurate. What the...
