Whole Lotta Nothing Going On.
It's been about 3 years since I got a meal from JM's, since the one opened in Amsterdam NY, and back then my findings were "overpriced, poor quality, and bad service". A solid 2/5. But I'm willing to try again, and I think 3 years has been a long enough wait.
Sadly even the Clifton Park location failed in one respect, the readiness. I put my order in online, well before my pickup time, hours even, but I never have trouble with this kind of thing anywhere else. Went with a "Giant" Chicken Cheese Steak on the Rosemary Bread, coming to just under $20 before tip. Which if I could have taken it back, I would have, because, the service was not up to par.
I arrive at my selected time and walk in expecting my sub to be sitting on the counter, no dice. Then perhaps they are still working on it? Nada. So I ask the employee at the counter about my order, and I'm hit with the deer in the headlights stare. He looks down at the receipts next to the online ordering register, finds mine, and asks his buddy cleaning the grill about it. Turns out they forgot about my order, despite having hours to be ready, despite being emptier than a banker's heart, they failed.
7 minutes later I had my sub, fresh as can be, which is pretty fast for someone who were to walk in and order their meal. But not for someone who put the order in online. Darn shame, they stumbled right at the start.
That said, back home, the sub was pretty yummy. The bread was puffy and light, the fillings were savory and meaty, and the flavor was rich but not too much. The Rosemary topping was very messy though, falling off with every bite I took, but the included sub wrapper was able to catch all of that. Don't know if I'd say the "giant" moniker was really worth the $19, it was just slightly larger than a footlong, and I polished off the entire thing in under 15 minutes.
So while JM's didn't win any awards for their attentiveness, at least the sub was good....
Read moreWe buy subs at Jersey Mike's an average of once a week. Historically they have been fabulous. Our last two visits are a different story. On Saturday I asked for "light oil and vinegar". The girl kept pouring it on until it was all over the paper. When I got home I opened the sub. The bottom was fairly thin but it was like a sponge...dripping wet. Paper soaked. Wiped it up with a paper towel then wrapped it in paper towels and by 24 hours later we could eat it. Today was even worse. Maybe. This is a tuna sub, veggies and mayonnaise. Too much mayonnaise. The clerk put the top on to cut it and the top slid to the right. Resulting in one half having a big top and a small bottom and vice versa. Then she got ready to roll it into paper and the top slid off entirely to the side taking all the tuna and fillings with it. She tried to squish it together and make it look right and failed. She knew I was upset after I told her that it was for my husband who has to eat in a reclining position. I really think that after she made all of that mess she should have thrown it out and made a new sub for me. At home I had to open it up, scrape mainly tuna off the paper and even the top of the roll. Tuna and the extra mayonnaise smeared everywhere. Because the tops and bottoms didn't match it was impossible to really reconstruct it. Ended up with mayonnaise all over my freshly sealed granite . The yield was that 1/2 of the sub could be served. This made two weeks in a row that our subs were ruined by sloppy sub artists. I don't think that we will return again. And the one star that I gave this place was for...
Read moreAfter you read this, read all the other bad reviews this location recently received. Many problems in the recent past with numerous customers. In my opinion, It appears that management has been unable to correct various aspects of poor quality control of this store. I ordered a hot and cold sub around 5:30pm for a 6:30pm pick up at the Jersey Mikes Clifton Park, NY location for my son and myself. I arrived at 6:42 only to find out they forgot to make my hot sub. Without saying anything such as "Sorry, we forgot to make your sub", one employee just went to the grill and started making my sub. While I waited for an additional 10 minutes, there were several employees out front standing around talking. The floors and countertops were filthy. No one was cleaning. The appearance was disgusting. Once my sub was made, one of the employees handed me my order without a word and walked away. Not "sorry", not a "have a nice evening"... nothing. In addition, they put the hot sub with the cold sub instead of separating the orders so part of the cold sub was warm when I got home. What is wrong with these young workers who want high wages but refuse to properly do their jobs, take pride in their business's appearance, or treat their customers with common courtesy? This Jersey Mikes store has just lost several customers...
