Mitchell's Diner-Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Bland bland bland. Ordered the salmon burger that came with a salad and tzatziki. Paid extra for crispy onions. Onions were not crispy like I expected, it was just caramelized onions and some had a normal onion crunch from not being fully caramelized, but it wasn't breaded or anything, or prepared in any way that would indicate crispy.

Salmon burger was plain and ultra bland, didn't seem like it was cooked with love, passion, or even any type of house recipe. The “tzatziki” was more akin to a bland sour cream, most lacking “tzatziki” I've ever had so that wasn't going to add any flavor either. Somehow the feta for the salad was also lackluster, and the dressing was what seemed to be tiny pieces of tomatoes and something else in too much oil and vinegar.

When I simply tasted the “dressing” on the tip of my fork it sent a shock wave through my head to my brain. Never experienced that before maybe there was too much undiluted vinegar Idk. Salad was iffy some of the lettuce was browning. Tried one olive and spit it out, possibly going sour. And I had just had a nice fresh greek salad earlier today so the contrast was obvious.

Bun for burger was lackluster like something you get at school and eventually got soggy for being in same container w/ salad. The bun was probably already too soft to withstand that close proximity anyway.

Gave it two stars instead of one b/c overall seemed the ingredients were at least not super old and the piece of brownie I had was okay. Maybe some of their other more straightforward items are okay but I won't be back to find out. Once I can tell a place is not cooking with passion and finesse I'm out. This is the lowest review I've ever written on here and am usually giving five stars but that's how disappointed I am, especially after reading the great reviews. Couldn't even finish all the food and felt like my money...

The turkey dinner was a complete let down the only thing good about the meal was the soup and the apple pie dessert the actual entree of Turkey first of all was not fresh turkey it was Turkey roll and I might add very poor tasting very salty turkey roll there was nothing fresh about that meal even the bread pudding that was under the turkey was like rubber and was not hot it was cold when I arrived there at 6:00 I was told by the waiter they had no corn they had no squash I mean and then the waiter tries to blame us for being late I don't call 6:00 at night when the place closes at 10:00 late I told the waiter about the issue of the turkey not being fresh turkey and he made some snide remarks about well I saw the cook put the turkey in the oven with a big bone on it I really think that the waiter is in a state of delusion but perhaps he has been smoking too much pot I'm not sure which one but you tell me I'll post my photographs and you tell me what you think the only that was good was the fact that they were open on Thanksgiving but it was a tremendous let down I will never go back there again and advise people who read this to carefully understand what you're eating in that place because some of their food is fresh but not this turkey...

I ordered what the menu called their famous veggie burger. $13.99 and $1.49 extra for cheese. When it came it was not THEIRS at all, it was a frozen patty, exactly like ones I had purchased at a grocery store. It was very dry and tasteless, so I asked for some mayo and a tomato slice. Was told the tomato slice would be an additional $1.49 at which point I was not interested in eating a bubba burger purchased by a restaurant to serve as their own for over $16. Having seen that the example of their FAMOUS VEGGIE BURGER, I guessed all the food was not made fresh and had lost my appetite. I told the waitress I didn't want the burger anymore it was not only very dry but falsely advertised as THEIR famous burger. The owner came out and told me I had to order something else or pay for the burger. She became very nasty and belligerent insulting me and my friend. I just paid for the burger and left. I have never had a more unpleasant dining experience in my life. Do not eat at this restaurant unless you want to pay a fortune for frozen food that is...
